The intermediate unit (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) includes an ejector (41a, 41b, 41c, 41d) and a gas-liquid separator (42a, 42b, 42c, 42d). The ejector (41a, 41b, 41c, 41d) pressurizes a refrigerant. A refrigerant that has flowed out from the ejector (41a, 41b, 41c, 41d) flows into the gas-liquid separator (42a, 42b, 42c, 42d). It is configured such that the refrigerant that has radiated heat in any of the use-side units (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d) that performs a heating operation is not pressurized by the ejector (41a, 41b, 41c, 41d).

After the elapse of a predetermined time period, the degree of supercooling of the refrigerant is detected while various controls are performed such that the compressor frequency and the degree of superheat become the stored compressor frequency and degree of superheat, and the detected degree of supercooling is compared with the stored degree of supercooling to determine the adequacy of the quantity of the refrigerant inside the refrigerant circuit.
