    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner exhibiting both of reproducibility of thin lines and minute dots and a wide color space of images and thereby, capable of achieving high picture qualities. SOLUTION: The toner contains toner particles obtained by dispersing a monomer composition containing a polymerizable monomer, a colorant and a release agent in an aqueous medium and carrying out a polymerization reaction. The toner contains a metal phthalocyanine or derivatives thereof in which the center metal can form a five-coordinate or six-coordinate structure. The toner particles have a weight average particle diameter (D 4 ) of 4.0 to 10.0 μm. When a toner particle having a cross-sectional particle diameter within the range of D 4 ±1 μm is selected from a magnified cross-sectional picture of the above toner particles by a transmission electron microscope, a central abundance index of the colorant particles defined below is 0.00 to 0.70. The central abundance index is expressed by a ratio of Ri to Ra, wherein Ri represents an abundance ratio of the colorant particles included in a center area defined by reducing the contour of the toner particle by 75% and Ra represents an abundance ratio of the colorant particles included within the 100% contour of the toner particle.
