摘要： Described is a process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma and taste of a smoking tobacco comprising adding to said smoking tobacco an organoleptic property modifying quantity of a composition of matter comprising more than 50% trans,trans-.DELTA.-damascone and in addition a process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma and taste of a smoking tobacco comprising adding to said smoking tobacco in an organoleptic property modifying quantity a product produced according to the process of (i) reacting 1-alpha-acetyl-2-alpha,6,6-trimethyl-3-cyclohexene with strong base in aqueous ethanol at reflux thereby producing 1-alpha-acetyl-2-beta,6,6-trimethyl-3-cyclohexene; (ii) reacting the 1-alpha-acetyl-2-beta,6,6-trimethyl-3-cyclohexene with n-methyl aniline Grignard thereby forming a first organometallic compound; (iii) reacting said first organometallic compound with acetaldehyde thereby forming a second organometallic compound; (iv) reacting said second organometallic compound with acid in order to hydrolyze said second organometallic compound thereby forming a hydroxy ketone having the structure: ##STR1## in admixture with other compounds; (v) dehydrating said hydroxy ketone in admixture with other compounds thereby forming a mixture having a major proportion of trans, trans-.DELTA.-damascone having the structure: ##STR2## in admixture with cis, trans-.DELTA.-damascone having the structure: ##STR3## and in admixture with other compounds; and in addition smoking tobacco products containing same.

摘要： Described is the compound trans, trans-.DELTA.-damascone and mixtures of trans, trans-.DELTA.-damascone and its isomer, cis, trans-.DELTA.-damascone is in a major proportion, a process for preparing same and processes for adding such trans, trans-.DELTA.-damascone or such mixtures containing high proportions of trans, trans-.DELTA.-damascone to consumable materials whereby:(i) In foodstuffs, medicinal products, chewing gums, toothpastes and chewing tobacco, sweet, floral, rose-like, raspberry-like, fruity, cooked plum, grape juice-like, apple juice-like and winey aroma and flavor characteristics are augmented or enhanced;(ii) In perfumes, perfumed articles and colognes, rose, berry, apple, green and sweet floral notes are imparted, augmented and/or enhanced; and(iii) In tobaccos, tobacco flavor, substitute tobaccos and substitute tobacco flavor and aroma imparting, enhancing or augmenting compositions, floral, musty, hay-tea-like, sweet and fruity aroma and taste nuances both prior to and on smokingand flavor compositions and perfume compositions containing trans, trans-.DELTA.-damascone and mixtures containing a high proportion of trans, trans-.DELTA.-damascone and a low proportion of cis, trans-.DELTA.-damascone or no cis, trans-.DELTA.-damascone.

In tobaccos and tobacco flavors, a sweet-musty, hay-tobacco-like, fruity-raspberry, ionone-like aroma prior to smoking and a fruity tobacco-like, Virginia tobacco-like aroma on smoking both in the main stream and in the side stream.

摘要： Described is a process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma of a solid or liquid anionic, cationic or nonionic detergent comprising the step of adding to a solid or liquid anionic, cationic or nonionic detergent base from 0.005% up to 5% by weight of at least one compound defined according to the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 or R.sub.3 is methyl and the other two of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is hydrogen; wherein the dashed line represents a carbon-carbon double bond or a carbon-carbon single bond with the proviso that when R.sub.1 is hydrogen, the dashed line represents a carbon-carbon double bond.
