    • An improved explosive and incendiary full caliber projectile having a high splinter effect. The projectile produces a reliable incendiary effect at impact by releasing splinters from the casing. It is of simple construction and the casing and splinters have a high penetration capability in particular when the projectile is less than 40 mm in caliber.At least a preponderantly longitudinal portion of the casing is made of a homogeneous substance consisting of a heavy metal alloy having a density in excess of 17 g/cm.sup.3. By using a sintered high tungsten content casing a relatively larger volume of an explosive charge can be used which enhances the penetration capability and splinter swarm producing effect of the projectile at impact.

    • A subcaliber projectile with a penetrator (4) and a cap (7) that surrounds the front of the penetrator (4) to form an air space therebetween and is tapered toward the penetrator point (6). The cap surface has at least two groove-shaped predetermined break locations (10-12) that extend in the direction of the longitudinal axis (9) of projectile (2). To achieve a secure feeding of the projectile during the firing with automatic weapons on the one hand, and a good strike capability on the other hand, at least one radial recess (15-18) is arranged in each of the groove-shaped predetermined break locations (10-12) in the region of the base half of cap (7), and extends completely through the jacket (14) of cap (7).

    • In a spin stabilized flight shell, a front body and a rear body are attached to each other at a first joint, and a pointed body is attached to the front body at a second joint. The materials of the front and rear bodies contain a high proportion of at least one metallic element having a density of at least 18 g/cm.sup.3. The rear body has higher ductility than the front body, which in turn is more brittle, so that it fragments easily.In one embodiment, a case can be used to protect the first joint and the front body prior to impact. The case is developed in a circumferential region as a form locking zone, for interaction with a drive cage. The front and rear bodies and the case 38 are connected at a contact zone, for example by brazing, and is of circular cylindrical shape with a diameter equal to that of the front and rear bodies. At the rear, the case is developed into a support for the stabilizing fin assembly, and is provided with a internal compartment for a tracer composition.In another embodiment, a drive cage with front and rear extension supports is provided, and the front and rear bodies are additionally connected to each other by a central pin.

    • A spin stabilized projectile unit includes a sub-caliber projectile having a cylindrical section connected to a conical tail section including an external circumferential holding groove. A propelling cage casing encloses the projectile. A propelling base includes a receptacle holding the projectile and connected with the projectile and the propelling cage casing. The receptacle includes inwardly projecting axial webs presenting an inner diameter of the receptacle in a region of the cylindrical section of the projectile which corresponds to the outer diameter of the cylindrical section. The inner diameter of the receptacle formed by the webs becomes increasingly larger than the respective outer diameter of the conical section beginning in the transition region between the cylindrical and conical sections to form an annular gap extending to a bottom region of the bottom of the receptacle. A segmented holding ring is disposed between the inner diameter of the receptacle and the outer diameter of the conical tail section and lies in the holding groove and against the inner diameter of the receptacle for holding the projectile in the receptacle of the propelling base.
