The additive force device (111) includes a first spring (121) and a loading barrel (135) connected to the first spring (121) for storing torque therein. A ratchet assembly (129) is connected to the loading barrel (135) and to the first spring (121). The ratchet assembly (129) has a first position in which torque is stored in the first spring (121) and a second position in which torque is released from the first spring (121). An inner barrel (133) is connected to the ratchet assembly and to the drug delivery device (100). The inner barrel (133) transmits the stored torque from the first spring (121) to the drug delivery device (100) to increase an injection force thereof.

The infusion set further includes adhesion means with user-selectable degrees of adhesion strength, self-sealing tube connection means, a lens feature to view, a site beneath the set, exemplary tube management and connection elements, insulin supply, adhesion concealment means, finger loops on the inserter and site preparation wipes or sprays, optionally provided as part of the inserter. The system further includes a package which may hold a number of easily released sets, retrievable by an inserter, an exemplary insertion needle handle and shroud, an exemplary squeeze-type latch between an upper portion and a lower portion of the set, and/or a tool removable upper portion of the set.

摘要： In one aspect, a safety pen needle assembly is provided herein which includes a hub with a needle fixed to the hub, the needle having a distal end, formed for insertion into a patient, and a proximal end. The assembly further includes a shield and a biasing member disposed between the hub and the shield configured to urge the shield distally. A protrusion extends from at least one of the hub and the shield with a channel being formed in at least the other of the hub and the shield. The channel is formed to accommodate the protrusion. The shield is movable from a first position to a second position. In the first position, the shield is spaced from the distal end of the needle such that the distal end of the needle is exposed. In the second position, the shield covers the distal end of the needle.

摘要： In one aspect, a pen needle assembly is provided herein which includes a hub, and a needle fixed to the hub, the needle having proximal and distal ends with a lumen extending therebetween. The needle extends distally from the hub to define an exposed length between the distal end of the needle and the hub in the range of about 5.0 to 9.0 mm. The hub defines a post formed about the needle, the post having a distally-facing first skin engaging surface. The exposed length of the needle extends distally from the first skin engaging surface. The hub also defines a distally-facing second skin engaging surface which at least partially circumscribes the first skin engaging surface. The second skin engaging surface being located proximally of the first skin engaging surface. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a pen needle assembly is provided having two skin engaging surfaces which provide stability in achieving subcutaneous injections.

摘要： A pen needle is provided with a plastic non-patient end. Since the non-patient end needle does not contact the patient, the needle can be formed with a larger diameter, permitting more secure attachment to a medication pen and greater medication flow from the cartridge through the cannula. In addition, a two-part hub construction comprising a needle bearing sub assembly and an adapter for attachment to the pen body may be used to lower materials volume and costs, and reduce sharps disposal. In embodiments, a hub according to the invention may be provided with a shield that provides an audible and/or tactile indication when full penetration depth of the needle is achieved. Windows on the shield may reveal a color band on the hub at the full-penetration depth position to provide the user with a visual indication that the pen needle has been used.
