    • A first device such as a portable computing device can be configured to act as a text-entry device (in a text-entry mode) and a cursor control device (in a cursor control mode) for a second device. The first device can include a touch-sensitive display capable of receiving text inputs and cursor inputs for controlling the display of a second device which is communicatively coupled to the first device. The first device can be configured such that selection of certain items displayed by the second device can cause the first device to switch from a text-entry mode to a cursor control mode. The first device can be configured such that rotation of the device between a landscape orientation and a portrait orientation causes the device to switch between modes. The first device can be configured such that sideways movement of the device causes the device to switch between modes.

    • A method and mobile computing device for sharing a calendar database stored at a second computing device, are provided. The mobile computing device comprises a processer and, interconnected thereto, a memory and a photo acquisition module. An image of a graphical indicator of the calendar database is acquired at the mobile computing device. The image of the graphical indicator is processed, at the processor, to extract an identifier of the calendar database to access the calendar database and store at least a portion of the calendar database in the memory.

    • Systems and methods on a handheld electronic device, such as a Smartphone, that receive human interface device input, performs text entry processing functions on that input to determine text display characters to present to a user, presents those text display characters on the handheld electronic device, and sends data reflecting the user's input through a conventional human interface device (HID) interface to a remote device. Text entry processing, such as auto-complete, auto-correct, predictive text entry, that a user configures on one device can be used for text entry on any device with a conventional HID interface. The user's input is reflected on both the handheld electronic device used to enter the input and also on a display of the remote device.

    • Systems and methods for sharing previously-associated application data from a secure device can include a first device (e.g., a tablet computer) and a second device (e.g., a smartphone which can be a more secure device than the tablet computer) coupled to one another. The tablet computer can send a request to the smartphone for previously-associated input data associated with an application currently running on the tablet computer, an input field of the application, and an input entered in the input field of the application. The smartphone can transmit the previously-associated to the tablet computer. The previously-associated input data can include a browser history, frequently-visited websites, stored user credential data, auto-fill text data, or other previously-associated input data. As the previously-associated input data is stored on the smartphone (e.g., the more secure device), the likelihood of unauthorized access to the previously-associated input data can be reduced.
