摘要： A method and apparatus perform I/Q imbalance estimation and compensation using synchronization signals in LTE systems. Primary and secondary synchronization signals (P-SCH and S-SCH), which carry synchronization information, are embedded in each LTE frame, and are used for receiver I/Q imbalance estimation. Additionally, the performance may be significantly improved by optimally selecting the training data in I/Q imbalance estimation.

摘要： A method and apparatus for estimating noise for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) are disclosed. A time domain difference signal and a frequency domain difference signal between two consecutive received pilot symbols are calculated. A time domain noise power is calculated from the time domain difference signal and a frequency domain noise power is calculated from the frequency domain difference signal. The time domain noise power and the frequency domain noise power are combined to estimate the noise power.

The symbols are assigned to subcarriers in accordance with a frequency assignment pattern assigned to a cell. Different frequency assignment patterns are assigned to neighboring cells. Cells in the network may be divided into a plurality of groups and a different frequency assignment pattern may be assigned to each group of cells. The frequency assignment pattern may be defined such that subcarriers mapped to a pair of symbols in one cell are interlaced to subcarriers mapped to a pair of symbols in a neighbor cell. Alternatively, the frequency assignment pattern may be defined such that subcarriers mapped to a pair of symbols in one cell are shifted in a neighbor cell.
