    • PURPOSE: A method for preparing a silk peptide with enhanced physiological activity is provided to enhance antioxidation, immunity, and skin whitening. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing a silk peptide with enhanced physiological activity comprises: a step of isolating silk fibroin protein from cocoons, a step of irradiating radiation at 1-200kGy to the protein; and a step of hydrolyzing the protein. The isolation of silk fibroin is performed using 4-6% of sodium carbonate(Na_2CO_3) solution or sodium hydrogen carbonate(NaHCO_3) solution. The radiatioin is gamma ray, electronic beam, or X-ray. The hydrolysis is performed by adding acid solution to the protein and treating at 80-150 °C for 1-8 hours. A food composition useful in antioxidation contains the silk peptides. A cosmetic composition for skin whitening contains the silk peptides. A pharmaceutical composition for enhancing immunity or anticancer activity contains the silk peptides.
