摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal apparatus excellent in display quality, in which the splay-bend alignment transistion is facilitated, the bend alignment maintenance after transition is facilitated, and the high retardation of a display region can be maintained. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal apparatus includes a liquid crystal layer formed of nematic liquid crystal having positive dielectric anisotropy and a pair of substrates, which are opposite to each other with the liquid crystal layer held between them, at least one substrate being adapted to transmit light, wherein a display area part with a plurality of pixel electrodes disposed thereon and a non-display area part other than the display area part are arranged on one of the paired substrates, a counter electrode formed of a transparent electrode is disposed on the other substrate, inorganic alignment films are provided on the paired substrates at the liquid crystal layer side, and the inorganic alignment film disposed on at least the one substrate has a plurality of regions different in layer thickness of the inorganic alignment film.
