摘要： A method for producing thermomechanical or chemi-thermomechanical pulp is provided. The process is characterized as having a reduced specific energy demand during refining. The process involves processing a pretreated wood material using one or more high consistency refining steps to produce a first pulp, optionally applying a chelating agent to the first pulp during HC refining to produce a stabilized pulp and treating the first or stabilized pulp with an alkaline-peroxide liquor to produce a treated pulp. The treated pulp is then processed by one or more second low consistency refining steps. Alternatively, the first pulp or stabilized pulp may be divided into a primary and secondary stream. The primary stream is treated with alkaline-peroxide liquor to produce a treated pulp. The secondary stream is processed using a secondary HC refining step to produce a partially refined pulp, and removing latency of the partially refined pulp and the treated pulp is removed in a common location. The treated pulp and the partially treated pulp is processed by one or more than one second low consistency refining step to produce a final pulp. The methods utilize less energy when compared with a method for producing pulp that requires both primary and secondary high consistency refining stages.

摘要： The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for facilitating the creation and study of biological substrates. In particular, the present invention allows the location of materials deposited on a substrate to be identified, and communicated with great precision. This in turn allows additonal biological materials to be deposited as probes over target locations. The present invention also allows for small regions of biological materials deposited on a substrate to be identified and repeatedly accessed, even when the biological substrate has been removed from the device originally used to review the region of interest and is then reinserted into the original device. Furthermore, the present invention allows a region of interest to be accurately located even using a machine that is different from the machine originally used to identify the region of interest.

摘要： A battery grid is disclosed. The battery grid includes a pattern of grid wires. The pattern includes a grid wire having a first segment with a first corrosion resistance and a second segment with a second corrosion resistance which is less than the first corrosion resistance. The second segment corrodes at a rate which is faster than the corrosion rate of the first segment so as to dynamically release internal stress and control grid growth of the battery grid during its service life. A battery includes said grid and a method of forming said grid are also disclosed.
