A random access write zone is defined on the disk comprising a first plurality of the data tracks, and a circular buffer write zone is defined on the disk comprising a second plurality of the data tracks. Write commands are received comprising logical block addresses (LBAs). First frequency and second frequency write LBAs are identified, where the second frequency is higher than the first frequency. Data associated with the first frequently write LBAs is stored in the circular buffer write zone, and data associated with the second frequency write LBAs is stored in the random access write zone.

One of the first and second physical zones is selected based on a power parameter affecting a power consumption of the disk drive, and the data is written to a data sector in the selected physical zone. A physical block address (PBA) is assigned to the data sector, and an LBA to PBA map is updated for the written data.

    • A disk drive is disclosed comprising a head actuated over a disk having a plurality of tracks, wherein each track comprises a plurality of data sectors each assigned a physical block address (PBA). A first write command is received identifying a number of logical block addresses (LBAs) and write data. A header identifier is written to a first data sector that identifies a beginning of the first write command. The write data is written to a plurality of the data sectors and after writing the write data, a footer identifier is written to a second data sector that identifies the end of the first write command. The LBAs are written to at least one of the first data sector and the second data sector.

    • A disk drive including a delay circuit to provide a delayed reset signal is disclosed. The disk drive includes a head to perform write and read operations to and from a disk and a disk controller that is coupled to the head to control the write and read operations performed by the head. The disk drive further includes: a power loss detection circuit to detect a power loss and to generate a reset signal in response to the power loss; a reset power line coupled to the disk controller and the power loss detection circuit to provide a non-delayed reset signal to the disk controller; and a delay circuit coupled to the reset power line wherein the delay circuit delays the reset signal to provide a delayed reset signal.

    • A system for storing video data includes a receiver configured to receive a stream of video data that includes a sequence of original transport packets. Each original transport packet has a first predetermined number of bytes including video data bytes. A first circuit is configured to add a second predetermined number of bytes to each original transport packet to create a modified transport packet having a third predetermined number of bytes. A storage medium is addressable on sector boundaries, wherein each sector has a predetermined number of user data bytes different from the first predetermined number of bytes. The first byte in a modified transport packet aligns with a first user data byte in a sector after a first predetermined number of sectors following a previous alignment.
