    • A multi-contact electrical connector wafer includes an insulating base and at least one bay on a first side of the base. A conductor is associated with the at least one bay and the conductor is adapted to contact a corresponding mating element. The wafer further includes a loading beam adapted to bias the first conductor toward the corresponding mating element upon deflection of the beam. A connector may be formed with a conductive component disposed in a connector housing defining a receptacle opening. The conductive component is arranged in the housing in a manner to allow the conductive component to move relative to the housing. As such, the connector can accommodate a mating connector of a first thickness or a mating connector of a second, different thickness. The connector may also be adapted to accommodate a mating connector that is inserted into the receptacle in a manner that is not collinear with respect to the receptacle.

Loud-speakers; magnetic instruments; diaphragms.-An electromagnetic sound-reproducer comprising a base 4, a casing 8 carrying electromagnetic means housed within the base, and a cap member 5 supporting a ferrule 6 and acoustic horn 7. has the cap 5 and casing 8 assembled and secured to the base by a sleeve 13. In assembling the parts the sleeve 13 is screwed into the cap and the cap is then set vertically downwards on the upper flange 15 of the base and secured thereto by means of the nut 16. The casing 8 is then screwed on to the sleeve 13, a resilient washer- 17, having portions slit and pressed up to form resilient tongues 18, being provided between the nut 16 and sleeve 13. The sleeve 13 also serves to clamp the diaphragm 12 against a depending ring 10 on the cap 5, the diaphragm being mounted, as described in Specification 230,799, between a pair of annular rings 32, 33, each of which is made up of a fabric sheet and a rubberfilm, the rubber film being, in each case, placed adjacent the diaphragm. The casing 8 may be rotated on the sleeve 13 so as to adjust the relative positions of the pole pieces 14 and diaphragm 12 by means of a handle 20 secured at one end by a nut 21 and washer 22 to a stud 19 projecting from the centre of the casing 8, its other end passing through an arcuate slot in the base 4 to form a grip 25. When it is not required to provide adjusting means for the pole pieces, the casing 8 may be fixed in place on the sleeve 13.

Printing-apparatus for rapid printing on separate sheets with bordering and vignetting apparatus. - The apparatus comprises a casing A, Fig. 12, in which are white and coloured electric lamps for printing and exhibiting purposes respectively. The top of the casing has a window A on which the film is placed under a rightangled frame G hinged at G and pressed down by a spring G to hold the film, a lifting-lever G‹ being provided. Stops M, M , M are adjusted in slots to the proper positions for the desired border, and the paper is placed on the frame G with its edge against the stops, movable frame members I, I' being then adjusted under the paper into positions to produce a uniform border. The adjustments are facilitated by graduations on the frame G. The members I, I are provided with sleeves slidable on rods J , J , to which they are secured in the adjusted positions by spring catches engaging notches in the rods. The hinged covering-shutter F is secured in its closed position by a spring catch H , Fig. 7, and its front edge is provided with a bracket F , which, when the shutter is closed, depresses a sliding rod E against the action of a spring E , so that a pivoted contact-lever C is moved from a contact D to a contact D through the action of a spring E , which is connected to the lever and to the rod E at a point which is moved from above the pivot of the lever to below it when the rod is depressed. The movement of the contact-lever breaks the circuit of the exhibiting-lamp and closes that of the printing-lamp. In a modification, the rightangled frame is replaced by two separate frame members, which are spring-hinged to, and normally press upon, the top of the casing.

Printing - apparatus for rapid printing on separate sheets ; with bordering- masks. - In apparatus for printing cut sheets, an adjustable surrounding frame is provided for masking the edges of the print, and has stops for positioning successive sheets of paper, and the casing is divided into two compartments containing the printing-lamps and a safety light respectively, which are alternately switched on and off as the pressure platen is raised and lowered. The masking-frame consists of a stationary part D, Figs. 1 and 3, with graduated arms D', D , and two separately adjustable slides E, E These are adjusted by yielding arms E4, E , respectively, which spring into notches in the graduated index plates E , E . The plate D is of yielding material and is raised by an eccentric or cam D to slip the negative film L, Fig. 5, under the edges. A sheet of celluloid K is placed over the edges of the slides E, E to prevent them from catching the edge of the film L or printing-paper M during adjustment. The paper is adjusted in position by means of projections D , D , D , D , on the part D. In the casing A, the partition A , Fig. 2, separating the printing-lamps F from the safety lamp F is fitted with a ruby screen A . In open position, the hinged part C , Fig. 7, of the platen is held raised by the spring J and a sliding bar G is held in its raised position by a catch G . In this position, an insulated contact G bridges the terminals G , G and puts the safety lamp F into circuit. To make a print, the handle H on the platen C is depressed and first releases the catch G from the bar G ; the spring I lowers the bar against the action of the weaker spring G which tends to raise the bar; a trip catch H on the handle H , Figs. 1 and 7, then engages under the latch H to hold the handle and pressure platen down, and simultaneously the contact G bridges the terminals G, G' to switch in the printing-lamps F . On releasing the catch H , the platen is raised by the spring J and the bar G is raised by the spring G .
