摘要： An apparatus and method for completing an interval of a wellbore while drilling comprises a drill string (52) having a drill bit (30) mounted on the lower end thereof. A completion assembly (50) is positioned around a section of the drill string (52) such that when the wellbore (32) is extended by rotating the drill bit (30) and advancing the drill string (52), the completion assembly (50) does not rotate. The advancement of the drill string (52) and rotation of the drill bit (30) is ceased when the completion assembly (50) has reached the desired interval of the wellbore (32). Thereafter, the drill string (52) is disconnected from the drill bit (30) for retrieval to the surface leaving the completion assembly (50) and the drill bit (30) downhole.

Certain ones of the apparatus and methods use a first packing assembly, a second packing assembly, and a pressurization assembly disposed between the first and second packing assemblies to plastically deform a liner in a radially outward direction via hydraulic pressure. Another method uses a liner having a first section and a second section, and a packing assembly. The first section is deformable in a radially outward direction at a lower pressure than the second section. The packing assembly is used to plastically deform the first section of the liner in a radially outward direction via hydraulic pressure.

An expander member (56) is positioned within the production tubing (30) and travels longitudinally within the production tubing (30) to expand the flow area within the production tubing (30) once the production tubing (30) has been installed downhole, thereby reducing the pressure drop in fluids produced through the production tubing (30).

摘要： Improved methods and systems for creating a multilateral well and improved multilateral well structures. In one aspect of the present invention, the method comprises the steps of: (1) setting a diverter at a prescribed position and a prescribed orientation in a main well flow conductor located within a main wellbore, (2) boring through a sidewall of the main well flow conductor and into a material surrounding the main well flow conductor, the boring creating a window having a particular shape in the sidewall, the orientation of the diverter determining a lateral position of the window in the main well flow conductor, a lateral wellbore thereby being formed in the material and extending from the main wellbore, (3) lining the lateral wellbore with a liner, the liner having an interface end, the interface end adapted to contact a periphery of the window in the sidewall and (4) cementing the liner in place within the lateral wellbore, the step of cementing creating a pressure-bearing seal between the periphery of the window and the interface end of the liner. The method allows multiple lateral wellbores to be joined to the main wellbore and provides for connectivity among main and lateral wellbores, pressure-bearing sealing of joints to allow selective isolation of one or more wellbores or portions thereof and subsequent wellbore access for rework or other purposes.
