    • A playhouse formed from a single sheet of cardboard material comprises opposite first and second walls (2,6) and opposite third and fourth walls (4,8) extending between the first and second walls (2,6). Each of the third and fourth walls (4,8) has a respective triangular gable (38,40) extending therefrom, each gable being arranged to pivot between a vertical position, to support a pitched roof (22,24), and a horizontal position, to allow the pitched roof to be flattened. The playhouse is thus readily reconfigurable to form part of a modular system for constructing larger structures.

[Class 80 (ii)] A coned ring a of asbestos impregnated with synthetic resin is secured to the radial face of a sleeve c slidable on pins m which extend through holes in the sleeve from a collar n secured to a driven shaft e'. A spring washer k arranged between the sleeve and the collar tends to maintain the ring a in engagement with the conical interior of a driving pulley e loose on the shaft. A rod j is adapted to be turned so as to bring a buffalo-hide or other pad h, held in a hole in an arm i on the rod, into engagement with the bevelled face g of a groove in the sleeve c so as to disengage the clutch and brake the driven members. The pins m contact with the boss o of the pulley so as to prevent the latter from following the sleeve c in its disengaging movement. A recess p in the boss o, closed by a plug s, contains absorbent material feeding oil to a groove r in the boss.

    • 14,962. Steven, A. Dec. 15. Hank type; zigzag-roller type. - A machine for dyeing hanks or webs, from which the hanks or webs can be withdrawn quickly, comprises a rectangular framework a carrying easily removable top and bottom rollers j, r, and capable of being lowered into a bath b. One upper side-bar c of the frame carries, between fixed plates d, k , a series of short shafts e having at their outer ends spur-wheels f gearing together, and at their inner ends enlargements g, each provided, for example, with a rectangular socket h adapted to receive the reduced rectangular end of an upper roller j. These rollers j, preferably of square section, have cylindrical pins at their other ends adapted to lie in bearings under a laterally slidable cover-plate k on the other side of the frame, which plate is held in place by a pin- and-slot device. The lower rollers r, preferably round, are carried on longitudinal bars p, provided with similarly movable cover - plates q, carried on brackets o, which can be secured at any desired position on vertical slides n by set - screws &c. When the frame has been charged,. it is lowered into the bath b so that a driven pinion w carried thereon gears with one of the pinion f on the side of the frame a, all the rollers. being thus rotated. The pinions f are arranged just outside the frame a so as to lie, when in the bath b, directly over the wall thereof, the driving - pinion w being mounted so as to lie in a recess in the wall. One or more of the shafts c are provided with a squared portion x beyond its pinion f, on which can be placed a handle y to rotate the rollers if desired, for example, in the air to develop dyes on the fibre. The rollers may have flanges &c. to prevent the yarn from getting into the bearings. Eye-bolts s on the frame a are provided for raising-tackle, and a dished cover is provided which may be inverted and placed beneath the frame to catch drippings when the frame is removed from the bath b. All the rollers j may be run in the same direction by inserting idle wheels between adjacent pinions f. The cover-plates k, q may be made in sections, so that one section can be inserted or removed in order to deal with only a portion of the rollers. In the case of treating webs, only a few rollers are employed, for example, as shown in Fig. 6, the web may pass over top rollers j rotating in the same direction, and then in zigzag fashion, as many times as may be necessary over lower and upper rollers r, r .
