    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault exploration device that can orient a precise position of a fault in a coal seam.SOLUTION: A fault exploration device has oscillators T1, T2 that generate oscillatory waveform signals propagating through a coal seam in a geological structure in which the coal seam is held between two rock layers, and the oscillatory waveform signals undergo a dispersion phenomenon according to the Fermat's principle to convert to channel waves. The phase velocity c and the group velocity U of the channel wave for every frequency are calculated from a dispersion wave equation, and the minimum group velocity U0 in the group velocity curve is determined as the propagation velocity of the channel wave for exploration used in a fault exploration in a coal seam.
