    • A print medium feeding apparatus, comprising: a knockup plate on which a ream of print medium is stacked thereon; a pickup roller for picking up a sheet of print medium stacked on the knockup plate; a sheet separation member installed in a manner to form a contact nip with the pickup roller, and supplying friction force for separating the print medium sheet by sheet; and a friction pad disposed at an upper side of the sheet separation member, being in front of the contact nip. The print medium feeding apparatus of the present invention features an improved paper feeding capacity in that variable friction force is applied for separating printing medium. Moreover, since the friction pad does not come in contact with the pickup roller, the abrasion rate of the friction pad is much reduced. Furthermore, the material cost can be reduced by reducing the size of the friction pad.

    • A paper cassette for an image forming apparatus includes a cassette body, a pair of aligning plates, paper separating fingers, and a biasing member. The cassette body has a knock-up plate on which paper is stackable. The pair of aligning plates are disposed on the paper cassette body and moving in a widthwise direction for aligning paper stacked on the knock-up plate in the widthwise direction. The paper separating fingers are disposed on the aligning plates and are vertically movable to a predetermined distance above the aligning plates, for pressing against two corners of a leading edge of an uppermost sheet of paper stacked on the knock-up plate. The biasing member is connected to at least a side of one of the paper separating fingers, for increasing a relative downward pressure exerted by the paper separating finger on the uppermost sheet of paper stacked on the knock up plate.

    • A roller control device is provided that both sets sheets for printing and feeds them into an electrophotographic apparatus. The roller control device is may be constructed using a pickup roller that is mounted on a central axle and is used for feeding sheets of paper from a paper tray into an electrophotographic apparatus. A disk may be installed on the central axle between the pickup gear and the pickup roller. A solenoid may be mounted to the housing of the apparatus underneath the disk to modulate the movement of the disk using a latch that is interposed between the disk and the solenoid. A cam is installed on the central axle between the disk and the pickup roller to slidably contact a lift plate to set sheets of paper. The roller control device is usable in a compact apparatus, is economical to manufacture, and is easy to repair and maintain.
