摘要： A tamper-evident security device (which may form a child-resistant closure for a container) comprises a cap member (12) formed with at least one window (13), and an inner member (10) arranged for screw-threaded engagement with a container or other member and co-operable with the cap member (12) for rotation thereby: the inner member (10) carries at least one active element (11) arranged to displace outwardly and penetrate at least partially through the window (13) upon rotating the cap member (12) through a predetermined angle in the direction to loosen the inner member. In alternative arrangements, the cap member may be screw-threaded onto the inner member.

摘要： An optic fibre splice tray (Figure 1A) is provided with reels (3, 4,) which can be moved towards and away from the outer walls (132, 133) of optic fibre compartments (1A, 1B) in order to hold the coiled optic fibres closely in position. This prevents kinks developing which could lead to light losses. Also, slots (58, 59, 60 and 61) are provided in the wall portions (56, 57) to enable an optic fibre (F1) to be conducted from one compartment to another and thence to be joined (X) to another fibre (F2) which approaches the splice tray from the same direction. Unnecessary bending of the optic fibres is again thereby avoided. A splice protector housing 44 is releasably attached to the lid (2) of the splice tray and removable link members (28, 29) are also provided which fit into apertures (34, 35, 36 and 37) of adjacent trays in a stack to enable the splice trays to be stacked without risk of breakage of an integral portion of any splice tray.

摘要： A closure device for a gas pressure fed container comprises a body 10 arranged for secure fitment to a neck 1 of a container, and an extension tube 13 projecting from the bottom of the body 10 and arranged for depression to open a gas valve of the container. A socket is formed in the top of the body 10 to receive a keyway device 20, to depress the extension tube 13, having a probe to depress a feed valve of the container. Also disclosed and illustrated in figure 9 is a security device comprising a tubular element (50) woven from wire, with one or more of the filaments carrying a current, such that when the tube is broken, an electrical circuit may be broken.

摘要： A cochlear implant is installed in a user's head 18 and comprises an electrode array 20 which is situated on a user's basilar membrane inside the cochlea. The active electrodes are selected by controller 14 according to both an analysis of the frequency spectrum of the sound to be simulated (fig 5) and the amplitude waveform of the sound. The sound is received by microphone 10 and wirelessly routed to signal processor 12. The activation patterns of the electrodes may be a superposition of the amplitude pattern and a frequency spectrum patterns. Alternatively the two patterns may applied to the electrodes alternatively. The patterns are preferably applied at a rate higher that 8 kHz. The selection pattern of active electrodes on the array may also have its magnitude altered based on whether the simulated sound is in a period of compression of rarefaction.
