摘要： A heat exchanger (61) suitable for use with a domestic hot water shower comprises a casing (2), and an element assembly (6). Warm waste water from the shower is passed through the casing (2) cavity over the element assembly (6) and acts to warm the flow of primary water which passes through the element assembly (6). A pump may act to increase the velocity of the waste water relative to the element assembly (6) and/or the casing (2), and to prevent the build up or deposition of sludge and/or dirt therein/thereon. The pumping action may be provided by a cleaner (64) comprising one or more rotating areas (8) fitted with flexible fibres (9). Energy extracted from the primary water flow may be used to power the pump/cleaner. A valve may be provided for maintaining the predetermined level of waste water within the casing cavity.

摘要： A heat exchanger 2 which serves to separate and to conduct heat between two heat exchanging fluids 3, 4 consists of at least two layers 5, 6, 7 in intimate physical and thermal contact wherein each layer 5, 7 which directly contacts a heat exchanging fluid is substantially resistant to corrosion by that fluid and at least one of the layers 6 is easily corrodible by at least one of the fluids, such that if a leak of at least one in particular of the heat exchanging fluids commences development, it would cause an ever-spreading area of corrosion in the easily corrodible layer(s) 6. This corrosion would encompass the fine leak detecting channels 8 provided between the interface between at least one of the layers 5, 7 and the corrodible layer 6. Channels 8 form an intersecting network and one formed by grooves in one or both of the contiguous layers 5, 6, or 6, 7 or by strips of unbonded interface between the layers 5, 6 or 6, 7. The heat exchanger may be plate-like instead of tubular. If only one fluid is corrosive or abrasive then the network of channels need be provided only at the interface of the corrosible layer and the layer in contact with that fluid.

摘要： A shower tray is provided associated closely with an enclosed vessel 24 into which vessel the used shower water drains via an inlet path 4 before passing out of the vessel via a drain path 5. The drain path 5 is substantially in-line with the inlet path 4, and the cavity of the vessel 24 is substantially not in-line with the inlet and drain paths. The used shower water is induced to flow in a controlled manner substantially throughout the vessel's cavity and a flow-separating member 10 is provided in the vessel between the inlet 4 and drain 5 paths. The flow-separating member 10 defines a separate flow path on its each side, that is a flow path on the one side for the used shower water that has yet to pass substantially through the vessel and on the other side for the used shower water that has already passed substantially through the vessel.
