      SOLUTION: The automatic binding machine is provided with: a supply device 1 having a roller 13 for feeding a binding material 4; a guide rail for winding the binding material 4 on the outer periphery of a metal strip coil; and a joining device 2 for firmly fixing an overlapping section 28 of both binding materials 4 which are wound and piled up around the outer periphery of the metal strip coil. A reverse rotation mechanism for fastening the metal strip coil by rewinding the binding material 4 which is wound on the outer periphery of the metal strip coil is provided on rollers 13. By preparing a stopper 27 for stopping the pointed head of the rewound binding material 4 on the joining device 2, poor joining is prevented by restraining a roller scratch section 41 formed on the binding material 4 from getting into the overlapping section 28 at the time of rewinding.
