    • A system and method of pointed position detection, a presentation system, and a program for accurately detecting a pointed position based on an infrared image or the like. The configuration comprises a CCD camera for taking an image of an image display region, and a processing section that functions as a position detection means which detects a pointed position of a pointing image within an image display region that has been formed by infrared light through an optical filter that passes only infrared light. A movement magnitude computation section within the processing section detects movement of a pointer implement, based on the infrared image that was formed by infrared light and taken by the CCD camera, and a pointing coordinate detection section detects the pointed position of that pointing image in a state in which movement of the pointer implement is halted.

    • A system and method of pointed position detection, a presentation system, and a program that make it possible to detect a pointed position accurately. The system of the present invention which detects a position of a light spot that has been projected into an image display region by using an infrared pointer comprises: a CCD camera that picks up an image of this image display region; a pointing coordinate detection section that is position detection means which detects a pointed position of the light spot within the image display region; and a receiver section which receive a state signal that is transmitted from the infrared pointer during a pointer operation by that infrared pointer. The pointing coordinate detection section detects a position of the light spot as the pointed position on the image display region, based on the reception timing of the state signal.

    • The present invention has a object to provide a coordinate input system imparting a coordinate input function onto a transmissive screen for image display such as a rear projecting display apparatus, which permits use of a ray reflecting indicator smaller in size and lighter in weight than a light pen and to improve easiness to use. The coordinate input system of the invention has an infrared ray source 3 which projects an infrared ray onto the back surface of the transmissive screen 2 for image display, a CCD camera 4 which covers the back surface of the transmissive screen as a senses range, and an image information processing circuit 5 which generates coordinate information of a ray reflecting indicator 1 located in front of the transmissive screen 2, from output image information of the CCD camera.

    • A writing device is provided for color electronic paper which is capable of performing full color display. The writing device includes a head unit, a head unit moving mechanism which moves the head unit in a first direction, a feeding mechanism which moves electronic paper, and a controller. The head unit includes a writing head, an LED which emits light of three primary colors, an image sensing element consisting of a CMOS sensor, and an optical system. The writing head includes an optically transparent head main portion provided with pixel electrodes, and a common electrode (counter electrode). In the controller, an arrangement of three types of microcapsules in a microcapsule layer is detected to perform electric field formation for each of the pixel electrodes based on a detection result.
