    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new possibility of achieving precise calibration of an electric driving device for dental use despite quick and easy operation.SOLUTION: A method for driving an electric motor (2) of an medical instrument, particularly a dental surgical or endodontic apparatus, including a means for housing a tool (5) driven by the motor (2), includes driving the motor (2) together with the housed tool (5) at least one driving point, and evaluating the generator voltage (U) of the motor (2), the rotating speed (n) of the motor (2) and the idling current consumption (I) of the motor (2) for the driving point, during a calibration step. On the basis of given parameters, the idling friction moment (Mreib) for the instrument (1) is calculated, and later the result is considered as a correction factor to drive the motor (2) when the instrument (1) is driven.
