[Class 9 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVIII] Relates to pyrotechnic devices for producing under water a timed sequence of disturbances for signalling or other purposes. The invention provides a perforated metal tube or tubes filled with a slow-burning thermal composition and a plurality of detonator charges in cupshaped containers located in the perforations of the tube. In addition, ignition means are provided to ignite the thermal composition, which upon ignition burns at a known rate from one end of the tube successively igniting the charges in the containers. Symmetrically arranged between two plates 14, 15 are four cylindrical metal tubes 1 having perforations 2 in which are placed containers 3, each holding a primed percussion cap 4. In the lower end of each tube 1 is a sealing cup 5 having a screwthreaded projection 6 passing through the plate 15 and held by a nut 18. Each tube 1 is filled with a slow-burning gasless thermal composition 7, the mouth of each tube being closed by a plug 8 into which is screwed a fuze holder 9 accommodating a conventional type electric fuze 10, sealed in with a cold-setting phenol formaldehyde cement. Each tube 1 is covered with self-adhesive tape 13 and sprayed with waterproof paint.
