Boxes and cabinets. -A box or cabinet for filing racing messages, letters, or the like, is provided with means to check the time of filing and to prevent tampering. The clock 2 is geared to type wheels 4 which record the year, month, day, hour and minute. A drawer 5, divided into compartments 6, carries a locking bar 7 which, on opening the drawer, slides in a groove 17, and on closing returns over a notched bar 19, which prevents re-opening. Attached to the back of the drawer is a flexible belt 23, white enamelled, on which the date and time is stamped by wheels 4 on the clock which is visible through an aperture. This belt is wound on a spring drum 24, and passes between the ribbon 45 and a platen 42 which is depressed by a stud 36, carried on a shaft 33 operated by a one-way connection from a handle 28, which allows the shaft to complete the revolution independent of the handle. If the drawer is correctly closed the date should appear between two red lines 27 inscribed on the belt to correspond with the position of the drawer. The drawer when fully closed can only be opened. by unlocking the top of the box which is hinged and padlocked; the device is then reset by depressing the locking bar 7 until it again enters the groove 17. The impressions on the belt are removed by wiping with a sponge or wet cloth.

摘要： Viscose rayon fabrics are crease proofed, shrink proofed, stiffened and delustred by impregnating them with an aqueous solution containing a thermosetting resin precondensate, e.g. a ureaformaldehyde resin, in the presence of a mineral or organic acid or acid producing substance, e.g. ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, and curing at a temperature of from 50 DEG F. to 180 DEG F. in a pad-roll chamber or ager without loss of moisture and heat. The fabric may be cured under conditions of temperature and humidity within the range 120 DEG F. (dry bulb) and 115 DEG F. (wet bulb) to 175 DEG F. (dry bulb) and 170 DEG F. (wet bulb). The fabric may be stretched before being batched in the pad-roll machine. The urea and formaldehyde may be mixed and applied to the fabric before polymerization has occurred.

Belts.-In linked belts of the kind built up frcm links of leather or other material interconnected by rivets serving as pivot elements, each line of links 5 is stamped from a strip of leather &c., an unsevered portion 6 of small width and thickness being left between each pair of links. The portions 6 are of such substance, preferably less than half the thickness of the strip, that they break during use. The use of such stamped strips facilitates assembly with the rivets. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the portions 6 need not break during use of the belt. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.

Driving-arrangements for screw propellers, - Relates to means for eliminating the chattering of the teeth of toothed reducing and like gearing used with shafts. The times of free torsional vibration of the shafts with the masses secured thereto about the gearing are equalized at least in part. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, a screw propeller P is driven through double-helical reducing-gearing e from high and intermediate pressure turbines a, b on a shaft l , and from low pressure turbine c on a shaft k . The time of the shaft k is adjusted to that of the propeller P and its shaft d by prolonging the shaft k and interpolating a sleeve j between it and a driving- pinion j. The time of the shaft l is adjusted by prolonging it and also by adding a fly-wheel m. Torsionally flexible couplings and lengths of shafting may also be used.
