[Also in Division F4] A door unit for gaining access to ventilation ducting 17 (to extinguish fires therein &c.) comprises a tubular body 10 closed at one end by a readily frangible panel 18 and having its other end closed by a pivoted door 14 operable by pressure acting over the face nearer to the frangible panel but not by pressure acting over the face remote therefrom. The body 10, which is of square cross-section, is secured over a hole in the ducting 17 by a flange 16 which may be positioned at any point along the length of the body. The panel 18, which may be of asbestos or heat-proof glass, is removably secured to the body 10 by bolts 12. The door 14, which comprises a wire gauze panel hinged at 13, is prevented from opening into the body 10 by an inner tube 15, and may be urged towards the panel 18 by weights or springs.

    • 663,491. Motor attachments for cycles. GREEN. A. J. June 2, 1950 [June 29, 1949], No. 17202. Class 79(iii) An auto - cycle engine mounting comprises a pair of parallel telescopic supports whose upper ends are attached to the handlebars and lower ends to the extremities of the front wheel spindle. The telescopic construction accommodates the slight flexing of the front wheel fork. As shown, to each end of the wheel spindle is attached a lug 6 terminating in a rod 8 which telescopically enters a tube 11 whose upper end is adjustably clamped to the handlebar 12. The fuel tank 19 may be secured to a backplate 17 attached by clamps 18 to the two supports, and the engine may be pivotally mounted at 22 to a lug 20 integral with the backplate. The friction driving-roller is held on to the tyre by spring 35. Vertical movements of the engine are damped by providing an arm 29 pivoted to the power unit and whose lower end is bent at right angles at 31 to pass through a slotted plate 24. A knurled nut is screwed on to the end 31 of the arm 29 by which friction washers on the end 31 are adjustably pressed on to both faces of the plate 24. The driving- roller may be held clear of the tyre by engaging the end 31 of arm 29 in the horizontal portion 27 of the slot.
