摘要： The invention relates to a compact polarization insensitive prism assembly for projection display systems using reflective light valves. The systems comprising a trichroic prism assembly of three coated prisms, and a specially shaped, trapezoidal in the embodiment, beam splitter. The angles of the prisms are optimised for best colour separation and recombining with the least polarization insensitivity. The assembly forms a compact and spectrally efficient optical arrangement for reflective LCD projectors.

摘要： A generalized mixed twisted nematic / birefringent effect mode is presented for reflective liquid crystal displays with only one polarizer. This new MTB mode encompasses all previously published reflective nematic liquid crystal display modes and is clearly shown on the parameter space diagrams. The invention of how to obtain operating conditions of this generalized mixed mode display is discussed. For any given angle between the polarizer and the input director of the liquid crystal cell, a unique range of values of the twist angle and the retardation dΔn for efficient reflection and low dispersion is defined.

摘要： The invention relates to a method of driving an LCD, comprising providing an array of pixels, characterised by the steps of providing cholesteric liquid crystals arranged between spaced transparent substrates, and by providing a reset pulse and a plurality of selection pulses whereby to provide resultant driving waveform(s).

摘要： The invention relates to a device and driving method for increasing frame rate of a display system without increasing its video input data rate. Or, reducing its input data rate at reasonable display frame rate without flickering. The device uses a driving scheme which consists of bit set generation, bit set controlling and display device partitioning. The driving scheme may divide a conventional binary PWM pulse into a binary Secondary Bit Set (SBS) and a segmented Primary Bit Set (PBS). It may also create bit sets with pre-defined display time and display sequences for partitioned display device. The driving scheme enables the use of lower frequency video circuitry to provide high frame rate display image at standard television resolutions with improved image gradation.
