摘要： A magnetic field sensor, such as a Hall effect sensor, and a corresponding magnetic field producing unit, such as a magnet, can be both positioned near a hinge of a hinged device, such that the magnet, in one part of the device, rotates around the Hall effect sensor, in another part of the device. Three positions can, thereby be detected: (1) when the device is closed and the magnet is "above" the sensor, (2) when the device is partially open and the magnet is "to the side" of the sensor, and (3) when the device is fully open and the magnet is "below" the sensor. The hinged device can have the hinge offset slightly to enable the magnet to rotate around the sensor as described. Alternatively, the locations of the magnet and sensor can be reversed.

摘要： A foldable electronic device (100) includes a flexible hinge mechanism for enabling the opening and closing of the first housing element (102) and the second housing element (104). The flexible hinge mechanism includes a flexible hinge element (106), a drag link (108) and a flexible connection strip (506). The flexible hinge element connects the two housing elements and is elastic in nature. The drag link also connecting the two housing elements and limits an opening angle between the two housing elements to an angle less than 180 degrees. The flexible connection strip is routed along the length of the flexible hinge element and connects electrical circuits in the two housing elements for exchange of signals.

摘要： Disclosed are methods and devices of a slider form factor device including two housings. The top surface of a lower housing may include a QWERTY keypad, or a display screen of any type. The top surface of an upper housing may include a display screen. The device is configured to allow the bottom face of the upper housing to slide with respect to the top face of the lower housing until a limit of travel is reached. At the end of travel, the lower housing and the upper housing do not overlap. The upper housing drops down so that its top face is contiguous with the top face of the lower housing. Moreover, the upper housing is tilted with respect to the lower housing by a predetermined angle. In this way, the upper housing and the lower housing may abut to form substantially contiguous surfaces.
