摘要： 176,606. Walker, R. E. Jan. 29,1921. Disc wheels.- In wheels cf the kind comprising two discs 22, 23 detachably secured together in spaced relation, and each formed at its periphery to constitute, when in position, a complete rim, the outer disc 23 is formed with a step 10 to receive the edge 9 of the rim part on the inner disc. The discs are secured together near the periphery by bolts 12, and near the centre by bolts 4, which also serve to hold the wheel on the hub and pass through tubular bosses 3. In position the tubes 3 abut against each other or telescope into one another and form distance-pieces. The central apertures of the discs are formed with inturned flanges 2 which may abut. Parts of the discs may be removed to provide a spoke formation.

Wind and like screens.-A wind-screen for a motor-cycle side-car or the like comprises a transparent V-shaped panel 1, Fig. 1, secured at its lower edge to a substantially horizontal member 11 fitting over the top of the side-car and hinged thereto about its forward edge 12. The vertical edges of the panel 1 are preferably strengthened by means of metallic members 4, Fig. 3, of angle section, and the lower edge of the panel is clamped between transverse wooden members 5, 6. The horizontal cover 11 is supported upon side members 7 which converge towards the front and comprise wooden bars strengthened by metallic members of T-section resting upon the upper edges of the side-car. One or more transverse bars 10 extend between the side members 7 to form additional support for the cover 11.

[Class 136 (iii)] - The bottom bracket 6 carries an extension 9 having an aperture 10 within which is pivotally disposed a bearing member 11 for the sprocket wheel spindle. The member 11 is formed with two lugs 12 through which and through the extension 9 passes a pivot pin 13. The chain tension is adjusted by turning a threaded pin 15 which bears against a projection 16 on the member 11. In the case of a tandem cycle, the member 11 carries the front sprocket wheel spindle.

Spring devices.-In spring frames for motor-cycles, wherein a separate frame 9 carrying the engine and rear wheel 10 is pivoted to the main frame, movement of the wheel frame is restrained by laminated springs 13 secured to this frame adjacent to the pivot, the free ends of the springs engaging with the main frame or a member 14 thereon. As shown, four laminated springs may be used, and in order that the front pair may have a damping action upon the rear pair, the two pairs may be of different strengths The rear frame consists of two side girder members 9, 15, 16, 17 coupled together by transverse struts, triangular structures 9, 19, 24 at the rear being connected to the main frame by links 21 with slackness at the joints 22 or 26. Helical or other springs 23 are arranged between the main frame and the joint 26. A luggage-carrier 18 may be attached to the mem-- bers 19. According to the Provisional Specification, the member 19 may be pivoted to the frame- P and to the link 21. the stay 24 not being mentioned.
