    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simultaneous grinding machine for grinding rotation surfaces centered on one shaft, such as a bearing or journal for a camshaft or crankshaft, and to reduce the machining time of a workpiece material.SOLUTION: An apparatus for grinding rotation surfaces 12 centered on one shaft 3 comprises: a workpiece material spindle 1; a tailstock 2, and two grinding spindle bases 6, 6'. The shaft 3 is rotatably and drivably mounted about the central axial line. The spindle bases 6, 6' may be fed in a radial direction relative to the rotation surfaces 12. Grinding disk sets 10, 10' having many individual grinding disks 13, 13' are provided. Contours of the individual grinding disks are adapted to the rotation surfaces 12 to be machined. The spindle bases 6, 6' are provided at opposing sides of the shaft 3, and relatively displaced within the directions of the spindle axial lines 14, 14' of the grinding spindle bases. Accordingly, all the rotation surfaces 12 can be machined simultaneously.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a double-spindle lathe to provide a compact structure, and also improve a chip spattering prevention device for the chips produced in a working space.SOLUTION: This machine tool includes a machine frame including: two workpiece spindles 8, 8'; a cutting tool holder 12 with a plurality of cutting tools 13; a transfer device 18 for a plurality of workpieces 10; and a chip scattering prevention device 20 with two inclined plates 25, 25'. The cutting tool holder 12 is disposed movably along the machine frame. The plurality of workpieces 10 can be cut alternately by the plurality of cutting tools 13 in the two workpiece spindles 8, 8'. Therefore, the workpieces 10 are exchangeable in one of the workpiece spindles 8, 8' on a case-by-case basis. Each of the two workpiece spindles 8, 8' can be moved to load positions 19, 19' from working positions 17, 17' where the workpieces 10 are allowed to be cut. Since the workpiece spindles 8, 8' are loaded and unloaded, the inclined plates 25, 25' can be moved from the areas between the working positions 17, 17' and the load positions 19, 19', to standby positions 26, 26'.

SOLUTION: In the method and device for machining a rotating workpiece having a columnar surface of the center of a circle rotating around a shaft and an eccentric columnar surface, such as the crankshaft, the central axis of the workpiece is positioned at the center of the circle, and both distal ends thereof are supported or fixed to chucks. For eccentric machining, the workpiece is led to a desired angular position by shifting it in a direction orthogonal to the central axis, and by rotating it relative to workpiece holding portions. In one advantageous manner, the crankshaft is held at both ends thereof by the chucks. The first chuck is loosened to adjust the angular position, and a desired rotation is carried out by the second chuck. Then, the second chuck is loosened to carry out a relative rotation there.
