    • 695,785. Projectors for bowls. WOOLF, C. A. Sept. 20, 1950. [Sept. 2, 1949] No. 22740/49. Class 132 (ii). A projector for bowls comprises a portable, height-adjustable stand, a vertically-swingable arm mounted on the stand, and a bowl-carrying cradle secured to the swingable arm, the arm being vertically adjustable so that the green level at the lowest point of the swing of the arm is a tangent to the bottom of the mouth of the cradle. The stand comprises a top plate 21 carried on three legs 22 having feet 28 and pivotted to the top so that they can be swung in and clamped by a quadrant plate 29 to adjust the height of the stand. Rearward extensions 26 connected to the feet by members 26a are connected by a detachable curved bar 27 along which slides a block 30 carrying a chain 33 temporarily connected to the swingable arm 20 by a part 34 having a releasable catch. The arm 20 is mounted rotatably in the top 21 and its point of connection thereto can be varied in height by a screwed part 41. The angle of projection of the bowl is indicated by a scale on the top 21 and the amplitude of retraction of the arm 20 is indicated by a pointer 20b co-operating with a fixed scale 20a. The arm 20 is mounted on an axle 40 in lugs 39. A striking plate 23 having a cam surface 24 is fixed to the screwed part 41. When the arm 20 is released, it swings downwards and, at the bottom of its travel, a roller 43 rides on the cam 24 to pivot a lever 42 on the top of the arm 20, the other end of the lever acting to raise a rod 44 which, through an oblique link 45, moves a sliding plate 46 to the left (Fig. 11) to disengage a locking slide from a notch 48a in a rod 44a. This action allows a spring 50 to lift the rod 44a which is connected to the gripping fingers 52, 53 of the bowl cradle 25 which is thus opened. The rod 44a is adjustable in length by a screwed connection 49. The fingers 53 of the cradle are connected by a link 54 to a collar 56 the height of which on the arm 20 can be adjusted by a set screw 57. Spirit levels may be mounted on the arm 20 and on the plate 21. A timing device may be provided to time the run of the bowl or this may be observed from the pendulum motion of the arm 20. The bowl's leaving the cradle when the ground is tangential to the lowest point of the bowl is assured by the three height adjustments namely the inclination of the legs 22, the setting of the adjusting member 41 and the adjustment of the collar 56.

    • A mobile device may be operable to collect location data for a RF node and cache the collected location data in the mobile device. Resources that may be utilized for improving the uploading of the cached location data to a location server may be determined by the mobile device. The cached location data may be communicated, to the location server for updating a location database, by the mobile device utilizing the determined resources. The mobile device may determine and utilize an opportunistic transport based on a data usage and/or an access. The mobile device may store a subset of the location database locally for comparing with the cached location data for redundancy. The compared location data may be transmitted by the mobile device to the location server for updating the location database if the compared location data are not redundant data.
