The screen (10) further comprises top and bottom members (17, 18) fixed relative to the side member (14) which at least receive and conceal the ends of the pivotally connected elongate elements (12 a -12 q ) at the respective top and bottom of the generally rectangular assembly of elongate elements (12).

[Class 8 (ii)] Dust generated when a cutting wheel 17, Fig. 1, engages a workpiece 16, e.g. a tile mounted on a horizontal reciprocable table 14, is caught in a chamber 57, Fig. 5, comprising a body section with a suction outlet 61 and adapted to move vertically relative to the workpiece 16 as the latter is moved during the cutting operation, and a pan section for transferring dust to the body, and which is formed as a unit to move horizontally with the workpiece after the body section engages the top of the same. The body comprises a top wall 58 and depending side walls 59 disposed rearwardly of a hood 56, and by means of links 62, 63 swings downwardly against the action of a spring 66 to contact a stop 67 on the hood 56. The pan comprises a horizontal bottom wall 69, an inclined rear wall 70 and two vertical side walls 68 having rollers 72 which by engagement with rails 71 on the body serve to provide horizontal movement of the pan against a spring 84. Means for the vertical adjustment of the chamber 57 so that the body and pan occupy the same position relative to the cutter periphery irrespective of the cutter diameter and which position is determined by gauge rollers 65 and bearing rollers 75, comprises an adjusting shaft 77 mounted on the lower rear part of the pan and carrying on its inner end a controlling arm 78, and on its outer end a slotted adjusting arm 79. A roller 80 on the upper end of the arm 78 runs along a track 81 of a relatively stationary horizontal member of a carriage 18 supporting the cutter and dust catching chamber, and the arm 79 is adjustably secured to the body wall 59 by a clamping screw 82. The carriage 18 runs on vertical guide posts 26, and in order to bring the cutter to bear on the workpiece the carriage is moved downwardly against the action of a spring 41 by a pedal 46 at the end of a lever 44 acting through a link 47, a lever 39 and a rod 36. When making a cut of minimum depth equal to the distance between the underside of the gauges 65 and the cutter periphery, the carriage 18 is lowered so that the gauges are horizontally in line with the top of the workpiece. The latter is then pushed forward and on reaching the pan roller 75 pushes it rearwardly as shown in Fig. 5, against the spring 84. In order to make a deeper cut, the carriage 18 is lowered so that the top of the workpiece is at the proper distance above the gauge rollers 65, and the workpiece after passing the vertical line through the cutter axis engages the rollers 65, 75 and pushes the catcher body rearwardly and upwardly and the pan rearwardly as shown in Fig. 8.
