摘要： A transaction card with improved security features, comprising: an authentication unit and a magnetic stripe wherein parts of the magnetic field pattern of said magnetic stripe are generated by currents running through coils only after the authentication unit authenticates the transaction card holder. One or more sensors detect attempts to read the card by two magnetic heads, and block the card if a cloning attempt is suspected. The transaction card is thus closed for transactions in a normal state, and the magnetic information is not readable. Only after the card holder authentication, then currents are run through the coils to generate the magnetic information and make the magnetic stripe readable by commercial devices. Authentication means may include entering a PIN via a keyboard, entering a PIN via a keypad, voice recognition identification of one or more voices, biometric identification, or identification via a connection to a remote device.

摘要： The present invention describes a device and a method for grading diamonds using electromagnetic fields with a radiofrequency or terahertz frequency. The method for grading diamonds comprises placing the diamond (4) into a grading device, applying an electromagnetic field with a frequency range of up to 30 THz to the diamond, recording a modulated signal received from the diamond in a form of S-parameters as a function of frequency or any other parameter that can be deduced by applying said electromagnetic field, processing the recorded signal in the processing unit to obtain data containing information about either an amplitude, or phase, or both of the recorded S-parameters as a function of frequency or said any other parameter, performing calculations relating to the obtained data, and running a computer algorithm correlating the calculated data to either nitrogen concentration, boron concentration or plastic deformation in diamonds, thereby allowing grading of the diamond. The device comprises the following components, RF generator (1), transmitting antenna (2), waveguide (3), receiving antenna (5), amplitude and frequency detector (6) and computing unit (7).

摘要： A transaction card 100 comprises an authentication unit 103 and a magnetic stripe 112 wherein parts of the magnetic field pattern of the magnetic stripe 112 are generated by currents running through coils 113, 114 only after the authentication unit 103 authenticates the transaction card holder. The transaction card 100 is usually closed for transactions in a normal state and the magnetic information is not readable, improving security. After card holder authentication, currents are run through the coils to generate the magnetic information and make the magnetic stripe readable by card readers. Authentication means may include entering a PIN via a keypad 108, voice recognition identification, biometric identification, or identification via a connection to a remote device. The card 100 may also have ISO 7816 compliant IC chip contacts which are disabled until card holder authentication. The card 100 may also have pressure sensors 110 and magnetic sensors 111 in order to detect illegal double swiping. A Near-Field Communications unit 104 may also be provided and may communication with the user's mobile telephone which could also be used to authenticate transactions.

摘要： Apparatus 10 for modular eyeglasses having a plurality of lens members 14 th at can be selectively mounted to a frame member 12. The frame member 12 has the typica l temples 16 and a crossbar 18 with an interdisposed bridge 20. The bridge 20 is formed of pa d arms and nose pads 36 depending from a mounting having a magnetic element 22 fixed within the top mounting surface with a pair of apertures 28 spaced away from each side of the magnet . The frame 12 provides means whereby a number of lens members 14, such as reading lenses, distance lenses and sunblock lenses can be easily mounted to a single frame. A lens member 1 4 is comprised of a pair of lenses 34 with holes drilled in them for attachment at 32 to a flanged lens platform 30. The platform 30 has a mating magnetic element 24 with posts 26 located on ea ch side of the magnet linearly conforming to the distance between the frame housing apertur es 28. Once the magnets 22, 24 are aligned the posts 28 and apertures 28 prevent torsional forces from displacing the lens member 10, while maintaining the correct spacing between the user's eyes and lenses 34.
