摘要： The invention is directed to centering devices for use with Brinell hardness measuring instruments, particularly electro-optical instruments. Such instruments include an electro-optical probe (114) coupled by appropriate flexible cabling (115) with an associated processor which may include a display and a keyboard (19) interface. The probe includes one or more illumination sources (119) in a housing (116) with at least some of the optics of the instrument. The housing has an aperture (120) at one end of the probe which is aligned at least generally with the central axis (124) of the probe optics to provide to the probe optics a field of view of the specimen surface when the one end of the probe is located against the specimen surface (120). One centering device includes a spiderlike mechanical centering structure (40) protruding through the probe end opening. Another centering device includes a source (134) which develops a beam (140) of coherent or non-coherent light in the visible spectrum which is directed through the opening at the one end of the probe to permit an operator to align the probe.

A safety prop for a mobile hydraulic lever jack 13 is adapted to fit between lifting pad pivot pin 18 and trolley axle 12. The prop comprises three parts: a tubular lower support member 1 with a cradle 11 to fit the axle 12 ; a tubular centre support member 2, sliding rotatably in the member 1 and having a nut 15 secured to its upper end; and an upper support member 3, which is a threaded bar 16 having a cradle 17 to fit the pin 18 and carrying a locknut 19. In use, the members 1, 3 are relatively displaced by turning the member 2. Means may be provided, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), to prevent the members 2, 3 from being separated in transit or at all. The cradles 11, 17 may surround the respective axle 12 or pin 18, thus attaching the associated member 1, 3 to the jack.

摘要： The normal threaded nut or grub screw type of pillar terminal for connecting the wires of a flexible cable to the conducting pins of an electrical plug is replaced by a transversely pivoted cam-action clamping lever (14) which pinches the strands of a conductor (32) against an anvil (16) which may be the head of a pin or may be formed on a conducting tail connected to the relevant pin. Ideally, the clamping lever goes over-centre in the secure position. The plug top may also be releasably secured to the base either by a pair of similarly designed catches on the side of the base clamping appropriate pegs on the top; or by resilient fingers depending from the top which snap into notches in the external wall of the plug base.

摘要： A pair of bone clamps used for open reduction and internal fixation of a fractured bone or osteotomy is interconnected by a lockable, articulating connection apparatus. Each bone clamp includes a primary clamping means for manipulating a bone fragment back into a proper position. Additionally, each bone clamp includes a secondary bone clamping means that provides adequate clamping force for maintaining the reduction so that the primary clamping means can be released. The secondary bone clamping means provides clearance for the positioning and application of a fracture fixation prosthesis to stabilize the reduction during healing. The bone clamps and lockable, articulating connection apparatus together comprise a bone setting apparatus that provides for unconstrained manual reduction and alignment of the bone fracture, locking of the reduction in a fixed position and orientation, and application of a fracture fixation prosthesis, thereby securing the reduction.
