CONSTITUTION: A resilient bush 10 having a circular section includes inner and outer side members 11, 12 made of steel, and a resilient elastomer interlayer 13 formed by two parts 15, 16 made of natural rubber. The respective parts 15, 16 are made adhere to the opposing faces of rigid members 11, 12 between the rigid members 11, 12. Subsequently to assembling of the bush 10 and adhesion of the opposing faces of the rigid members 11, 12 and the sleeve 14 to the inner and outer parts 16, 15 of the interlayer 13, the outer part 15 is put in the pre-load state by the radial reduction of the outer rigid member 12. Accordingly, the sleeve 14 is subjected to the compressive hoop stress to be decreased in diameter, so that the inner part 16 of the interlayer 13 applies the compressive force to the outer surface of the inner rigid member 11.

    • PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of cracks, the decrease of strength and reduce a cost, by including a layer of elastic material in an end member which is held between two rigid plates, and suppressing the elastic material between the outer peripheral surfaces of tubes in openings and a peripheral suppressing surface by two plates against expansion due to an expanding agent. CONSTITUTION: The ends of tubes 2 housed in a tubular shell 1 are held in the openings of an end member 3. The end member 3 includes an elastic material 4 held between two rigid metal plates 5 and 6. Upon assembly of a heat exchanger, petroleum base oil is contained therein, passes through the openings of the plates 5 and 6, the peripheries of the tubes 2 and leaks into a clearance 13. The elastic material begins to expand. However, its expansion is prevented by the rigid plates 5 and 6, the inner peripheral suppressing surface 20 of the shell 1 and the outer peripheral surfaces of the ends of the tubes 2 so that the elastic material is compressed to form seal parts between the end member 3 and the shell 1 and at the end parts of the tubes 2.

    • PURPOSE: To enhance resistance to fatigue failure by defining at least a part of a frame member by a single guide strip forming two guide channels and making the guide channels facing inward apart by a strip material defining a channel facing outward. CONSTITUTION: The guide strip 60 is formed to substantially W-shape in cross- section by deforming a cold rolled steel sheet. The W-shaped cross-section forms a pair of guide channels 61, 62 facing inward and receives a frame part of a metallic net 18. The two channels are made apart by an intermediate channel 63 facing outward and side parts 64 thereof are parallel to each other. Thereby two V-shaped profiles 65 are apart from each other. An external profile having smooth projected surface is formed between the profile 65 and a frame part of the strip 66 to support a filter element 11. The strip material is folded by being bent inward to be the frame part so that a free frame part 66 reinforces the frame part without injuring a filter element 11. Thereby resistance to fatigue failure is enhanced.

    • PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for providing inserts or the like into a filter element by delineating elongate flow passage by the walls of a self-supporting type of a porous gas filtration material and forming the filter element approximately rigid or semi-rigid. CONSTITUTION: The filter element is formed to an approximately flat shape and has the plural tubular fluid flow passages 11 of a circular cross-section delineated by the porous sheet-like material 12 of the filter element. The fluid flow passages 11 are arranged to lie side-by-side so as to elongate in parallel with each other. The sheet-like material 12 is a composite consisting of a porous flexible polyurethane which is adhered to a porous woven supporting structure and is supported by the supporting structure. The fabric is adhered to an open woven supporting scrim, by which the element 10 is formed. The element 10 is provided with the semi-rigid property by subjecting the two scrim fabrics to a resin treatment before forming multiple tubular structures by local heating. The one end of respective ends of the respective tubular passages are then closed by ultrasonic welding at need.

    • PURPOSE: To reduce abrasion in a heat exchanger by employing internal members including a thermoplastic material of polyetheretherketone that has a low abrasion coefficient. CONSTITUTION: An aluminum alloy thin-walled tube 3 passes through the holes of baffle plates 5 and 6. The baffle plate 5 is smaller in diameter than the inner periphery of a shell 1 and is made of aluminum alloy or PEEK (polyetheretherketone). The other baffle plate 6 is larger in diameter than the baffle plate 5 and is made of PEEK. A distance tube 7 is also made of PEEK. When a heat exchanger is vibrated in use and the thin-walled tube 3 is relatively displaced with respect to the baffle plates 5 and 6, the degree of abrasion is reduced because of the low abrasion and friction characteristics of PEEK. In addition, since PEEK is larger in linear thermal expansion coefficient than aluminum alloy, at a high operating temperature, the tube 7 is pressed against an end plate 2 and the baffle plate 6 is fixed inside the shell 1 by a shrink fit, so that the heat exchanger is increased in rigidity and reduced in abrasion.

    • For use in a printing press cylinder (1) of the type having in its surface an axial cavity (2) produced for location of a lock-up device for a printing blanket on the cylinder, there is provided means to adapt the cylinder for accommodation of a printing blanket without a lock-up device, said means comprising a fillet (3) of shape for insertion into the cavity so as to bridge the cavity flushly with the cylinder surface periphery, said fillet having an arcuately curved bridge surface (10) of the same radius of curvature as that of the cylinder and having in its bridge surface a longitudinal slit (11) for guidance of a knife edge. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the fillet is in two-part form, consisting of a lower part (4) securable in the cavity by screw-threaded means entering the cavity base, and an upper part (5) securable to the lower part and providing the arcuately curved bridge surface. The adaptation enables an existing lock-up type printing cylinder to be adapted for non-lock-up securement of a printing blanket without removal of the cylinder from the press, and provides a cylinder surface suitable for application of an adhesive-backed blanket.
