Rope grips, of the kind used in mines for connecting tubs to a travelling cable, comprise a pair of spring-metal side plates, connected near their lower edges by adjusting-pins and adapted to be forced into contact with the cable by a hand-lever carrying a wedge or the like. The spring side plates A, B, curved at their lower edges and preferably fitted with jaws, are connected by two pins C and round-headed adjusting-nuts cl which fit loosely in holes in the plates. The plates are held apart by springs c arranged round the pins C. Between the upper parts of the plates there is provided a pivot pin e on which is mounted a telescopic hand-lever E carrying wedge or similar blocks e serving to separate the upper parts of the plates and to force the jaws into contact with the cable. A stop e on the wedge blocks prevents the lever from being depressed too far, and a pair of lugs e retain the lever in a convenient position when not in use.

摘要： A method and apparatus for locating and determining the quality of a downhole wet cement abandonment plug positioned in an open bore hole. The quality of the plug is determined by retrieving a sample of the wet cement mixture to the surface by remotely operating a fluid sampler included as one component in a logging tool. The sample permits the determination of the purity and quality of a downhole wet cement plug, providing valuable information for assessing whether the plug will set properly. Thus the method and apparatus greatly reduces the risk of plug failure due to an inferior cement mixture resulting from the intrusion of contaminants in a wet cement plug. PAT 1020-1
