摘要： An arc fault detection system senses current flow in a power source branch and in one or more load branches in an electrical system. Over a frequency range divided into a predetermined number of frequency bins, a controller records and tallies the branch having largest magnitude of power spectral density for each frequency bin. The branch having highest total tally is determined to be the branch in which the arc fault occurred and can then safely be isolated from the electrical system.

摘要： In an aircraft seat power system, a Smart Power Distribution Connector (PDC) connects a power supply to multiple power outlets. Power to each outlet is monitored and controlled directly by the PDC that is in turn monitored and controlled by the power source. The power source and the PDC share a communication bus through which instructions and responses are communicated. The PDC has the ability to communicate with the outlets by sending instructions and monitoring and acting on the responses from the outlets. The system allows for power management from a supply of limited power. The PDC can provide current limiting, allowing the use of lighter weight and smaller wire and other components.

摘要： Series arcing in wiring is a potentially catastrophic situation that has proven to be difficult to detect reliably with existing methods. This invention allows for the quick and accurate detection of series arcing in an electrical circuit. The method works with AC or DC power sources, and at any voltage or current level. This method will also detect high resistance in a circuit, which is another indicator of a potentially hazardous fault condition. The method compares the voltage at each end of a conductor, and will declare a fault when this voltage exceeds the minimum voltage required to sustain arcing.

The inductive and transformer elements are combined within the same device, sharing at least a part of the same magnetic and electrical paths. 摘要： Disclosed is an area sensor for air quality in the cockpit, crew rest or other area of an aircraft. Noxious fumes, fuel vapors, carbon monoxide and other vapors can cause significant risks to the flight crew of an aircraft. Fumes may cause drowsiness, inattentiveness or confusion to the pilot of an aircraft placing all persons on board an aircraft in danger. There exists a need to monitor and warn the cabin crew of such an event so that measures can be taken, such as donning an oxygen mask, to mitigate the fumes. Many of the vapors encountered that can cause this issue are colorless and/or odorless and therefore not always detected by the flight crew especially if they are in sufficient quantities and exposure is long enough to compromise the pilots cognitive skills.

摘要： Operation of an overhead storage bin sensor used to monitor the volume consumed within the bin including a VOC sensor to monitor for material that may become overheated within the bin such as lithium ion batteries in electronics products is provided. Currently, fire or smoke detectors are not integrated into the storage bins leaving this area vulnerable to developing fires and outgassing of electronic components often stored by passengers. Early detection of such events can prevent propagation of fire on board an aircraft by rapidly reporting the event and giving the location of the event. The system described leverages other patents applied for including a wireless sensor network and storage volume sensors. The sensor monitors for outgassing of materials or smoldering material by monitoring the air quality within the bin space.

The semiconductor devices are triggered to conduct and shunt transient currents during the opening and closing of the relay contacts to protect the relay contacts from overcurrent and to eliminate arcing during relay switching. This permits a combination of smaller relays to replace a larger and more expensive relay in applications that require switching of large load currents.
