    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that the conventional method for lighting an external electrode fluorescent lamp (EEFL) has the following defects, namely, 1. although high voltage (about 1000V) and an alternating current (about 50KHz) are applied to an external electrode of a fluorescent lamp, it is difficult to take measures against electric shock while assuring convenience of attachment/detachment of the fluorescent lamp, 2. there is a step-up transformer is on a circuit board, and careless touch causes electric shock, 3. there were problems such as electric shock in using for underwater lighting. SOLUTION: This magnetic coupling type fluorescent luminaire A has the following configuration. 1. A high voltage part which may cause electric shock is housed in a plastic or a glass container so that a person does not touch it. 2. The step-up transformer is divided into primary side and second side, the primary side transformer of the low voltage is housed in a power supply side connector B, and the second side transformer of high voltage is housed in a illumination side connector C. 3.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent tube light-emitting plate unit, of which external electrode fluorescent tubes (hereinafter, called EEFL) are arranged directly downward; weak points of the EEFL, coming out when generating backlight turned into a uniform light by a diffusion plate, are solved; such as (1) that there is a possibility of electric shock or discharge because of an exposed electrode, and (2)that the EEFL is thin, brittle, and hard to handle, and (3) that unevenness of brightness is generated at the part not emitting light like an electrode part when the backlight is formed for large area, and (4) that the plate unit can not be fitted to a decorative lighting box having an optional length because of a regulated tube length.
      SOLUTION: (1) The light-emitting unit is formed by arraying a plurality of cylinders made of transparent resin in parallel, preparing a structure formed on a flat plate, and by housing the EEFLs in the cylinder with a necessary distance from each other. By the above, accident is prevented and handling is made easily. (2) When manufacturing a backlight with a large area and an optional length, a light-emitting area of the light-emitting plate unit is changed by moving a metal electrode to the middle part of the respective EEFLs, a part of the plurality of light-emitting plate units are superposed, and the position is shifted so that the light-emitting part of the EEFLs at a lower side is not kicked. (3) As another countermeasure against the shadow generated by the external electrode, a transparent electrode utilizing an ITO conductive film can be used.
