    • The invention provides a device for a track- or rail-mounted closure drive assembly for engaging and disengaging a moveable drive trolley (which serves to move the closure, such as a garage door) from the drive from a powered operator unit, the device including body on the trolley having a guiding surface, a rotating body having one or more camming surfaces, rotation of the rotating body about a rotation axis being supported by the guiding surface, and a lever having a lever camming surface configured to engage with one or more of the camming surfaces of the rotating body, wherein the lever is associated with an engagement member such that rotation of the lever moves the lever camming surface along the one or more camming surfaces to displace the engagement member, and wherein the engagement member is arranged to realise the engagement and disengagement between the moveable trolley and the drive component. By way of this mechanism, successive operation of a release means (ideally, in a direction at least partly away from the closure) toggles the engagement member between an engaged and a disengaged position with respect to the drive. The device may include a latch for latching the trolley with respect to the track or rail when the closure is in a closed position, the latch automatically releasing when the drive is operated to move the trolley.

    • The invention relates to a latching closure drive assembly for use with a closure such as a door, gate, shutter or barrier. In particular, the invention relates to an assembly comprising a closure drive trolley for travel along a track, having an onboard latch movable between a deployed position and a release position, to lock the trolley to the track. In one embodiment, the trolley is driven by a longitudinal drive means (such as a chain or belt, driven by a motor) which engages with the trolley, the assembly including a latch release mechanism that moves the onboard latch into the release position when the longitudinal drive means is operated to move the trolley from its locking position. The trolley includes a trolley body and a separate slider body confined in a bore within the trolley body and arranged for longitudinal movement relative thereto, the longitudinal drive means being arranged for connection to the slider body. The trolley body and the slider body are mutually engaged in such a way that the relative movement between the two acts to move the onboard latch into the release position.

    • The invention provides a closure system comprising an obstacle detection system for detecting objects in or near the path of a moving closure. The system comprises a remote module, a remote module timer, and a communication unit. The system further comprises a motor to drive the closure between open and closed positions, a controller for controlling operation of the motor, and a base station coupled to the controller for communication with the remote module and to transmit synchronisation signals at first prescribed intervals. The remote module is arranged to have at least three modes of power usage: an operation mode, a standby mode, and a sleep mode. The system is further arranged such that, when in sleep mode, the remote module is configured to switch for a preset duration to said standby mode at or substantially at said first prescribed intervals to detect said synchronisation signals so as to monitor the communications link between the base station and the remote module.

    • The present invention relates to drive assemblies, and particularly to drive belt and drive chain assemblies for operation of doors, gates or barriers. The invention provides a connector for a flexible toothed belt or similar, including a body having an internal recess with a shaping complementary to that of the toothed belt, configured to allow an end portion of the belt to be engaged therein in a direction transverse to the belt longitudinal direction, so to retain the belt against disengagement in the longitudinal direction. Further, the invention provides a drive assembly including a rail or track, a trolley for connection to the door, gate or barrier, the trolley mountable to run along the rail or track, a longitudinal drive means comprising a chain or belt, connectable in a closed loop arrangement around or within the rail or track, the trolley provided with an engagement means for selective engagement between the trolley and the longitudinal drive means, whereby the engagement means includes an engagement member arranged for selective movement in a direction substantially transverse to the longitudinal direction of the longitudinal drive means and in a direction less than 45° from the plane of the loop of the longitudinal drive means. Also provided is a drive assembly including a partially enclosed track, a trolley for connection to the door, gate or barrier, the trolley mountable to run within the partially enclosed track, a longitudinal drive means, such as a chain or belt, connectable in a closed loop arrangement within the partially enclosed track and engageable with the trolley, the trolley provided with wheels adapted to run within and supported by the partially enclosed track.
