摘要： A method of allocating resources for transmitting content from a network element in a communications network to one or more mobile devices each in communication with the network element may include receiving, at the network element, characteristic information corresponding to each of the one or more mobile devices; and generating one or more adaptive guaranteed bit rate (AGBR) values at the network element corresponding to each of the one or more mobile devices, respectively. The AGBR values may be GBR values generated for each of the one or more mobile devices based on the corresponding characteristic information. A first scheduling algorithm may be executed at the network element based on the one or more AGBR values; and resources may be allocated to the one or more mobile devices based on an output of the scheduling algorithm.

Embodiments of the method include forming, at a network element in the wireless communication system, a statistical representation of resource usage for a user in the wireless communication system as a function of location and/or time using measurements of the user's resource usage at a plurality of locations. Embodiments of the method also include defining, at the network element, a plurality of rate tiers based on the statistical representation. Each rate tier indicates a rate for a different level of resource usage offered to the user.

摘要： An improved method is provided for reducing inter-carrier interference in the CDMA subchannels of hybrid OFDMA-CDMA systems. The results of decoding OFDMA tones are used to at least partially cancel interference from CDMA tones. Then, the CDMA tones are decoded. In specific embodiments, control information is obtained by an initial step of decoding the CDMA tones. The control information is used in decoding the OFDMA tones. Then, the decoding of the OFDMA tones and the decoding of the CDMA tones are performed iteratively, such that at least one instance of OFDMA decoding is used to cancel interference from the CDMA tones, and at least one instance of CDMA decoding is used to obtain improved control information for decoding the OFDMA tones.

摘要： A method for conveying signaling information of a communication system that uses MIMO antenna systems. To enable a relatively larger amount of information to be conveyed over the communication system and thus exploit the use of the MIMO antenna system, forward link signaling channels are provided where such channels contain swapping information that allow the communication system to retransmit traffic information using any one of the antenna elements of a MIMO system. The forward link signaling channels also contain channel assignment information that indicate which particular groups of channels are available for use by particular users of the communication system. To further accommodate for the relatively larger amount of information being conveyed over the communication system, the format of the reverse link signaling information is modified using any one or any combination of the following three mechanisms: (1) reverse signaling link information is time division multiplexed; (2) the reverse link information is modulated at relatively higher order modulation; (3) additional channels are provided for the reverse link information.

摘要： Disclosed is a method of integrating voice and data services onto a same frequency channel using available transmit power information to determine data rates, wherein the available transmit power information indicates an amount of transmit power available for future data transmissions over one or more data channels. In a “distributed” embodiment, a transmitter or base station transmits, via a forward link, an available power message to a receiver or mobile-telephone indicating an amount of available transmit power at some future time t+z. The mobile-telephone performs signal-to-interference measurements corresponding to the received forward link and received interference, and uses such signal-to-interference measurements and the available power message to determine a data rate that can be supported by the mobile-telephone. Preferably, the determined data rate corresponds to a maximum data rate at which a minimum level of quality of service can be achieved at the mobile-telephone. In a “centralized” embodiment, the mobile-telephone transmits the signal-to-interference measurements to the base station, and the base station determines the data rate based on the available transmit power at future time t+z.

According to the method of the invention, feedback information respecting data received by the mobile station from each of at least two of the plurality of base stations is received by the each of the plurality of base stations. An inference is then drawn at a second of the plurality of base stations of throughput parameters respecting a transmission channel between a first of the plurality of base stations and the mobile station. Transmission resources for the mobile station are then scheduled by the second base station as a function of the inferred throughput parameters.
