摘要： A cartoner has a side seam gluer for forming flat folded cartons which are vertically oriented in a magazine for feeding into the cartoner. A conveyor having a horizontally-movable discharge chute feeds the flat folded cartons in a vertical orientation onto the feeder. The discharge chute moves horizontally to follow the increasing or decreasing supply of cartons and permits the accumulation of a supply of cartons sufficient to run the cartoner for about two minutes in the event of a jam in the side seam gluer.

摘要： An orbital feeder for flat folded cartons (15), feeds the cartons from a stationary magazine (20) to a continuously moving conveyor (11). The magazine has a choke at its discharge end formed from parallel guides (141,142) which are spaced apart a distance less than the distance between the two folded edges of the cartons. A rotary carrier (25) is located adjacent the magazine and the conveyor. A plurality of planetary members (26), with attached suction cups (36) are rotatably mounted on the carrier. A fixed cam (30) cooperates with cam followers (2a) mounted on the planetary members to cause the planetary members to rotate on their own axes as the carrier rotates to pick up cartons from the magazine, open them and deposit them gently between transport lugs (12,13) on the conveyor.
The relatively simple feeder mechanism withdraws folded cartons from the magazine and deposits them erect on the conveyor quickly and efficiently.

摘要： This invention is directed to an apparatus for transferring packages into the product buckets of a cartoning machine which comprises an infeed conveyor for advancing the packages having a curved surface at its discharge end, and a transfer mechanism for moving the articles from the infeed conveyor to the deadplate. The transfer mechanism includes an endless support carrying transverse projections which move into the gap between contiguous packages to separate each package at the discharge end of the infeed conveyor from the adjacent upstream packages. The transverse projections form a compartment for each package which positively controls the movement of the packages from the infeed conveyor to the product buckets at a precise speed timed to the speed of the product buckets.
