    • A bag (1) for carrying a surfboard with a tent (2) incorporated therein. The bag (1) has two halves (1A, 1B), the two halves being joined to each other along a first side (1c) and having zippers along the other sides so the two halves can be secured together around their periphery to form a bag (1). Flexible tent poles (2A, 2B, 2C) are housed within the bag and constrained by an inside edge of the bag in a flexed arrangement together with tent fabric (2D) which is fastened to the poles (2A, 2B, 2C) and fastened to part of the bag (1), so that, when the bag is opened and the two halves (1A, 1B) lie side by side, the tent poles released from the constraint of the bag and are able to adopt an erect configuration in which the tent fabric (2D) is supported by the poles (2A, 2B, 2C) which extend longitudinally above the bag halves to form a tent (2). The "surf tent" thus combines a tent and surfboard bag without the need for "clip on" parts. The tent opens from within the bag itself.

    • A method and apparatus for dividing a thin film device having a first layer which is a lower electrode layer, a second layer which is an active layer and a third layer which is an upper electrode layer, the layers each being continuous over the device, into separate cells which are electrically interconnected in series. The dividing of the cells and the electrical connection between adjacent cells are carried out in a single pass of a process head across the device, the process head performing the following steps in the single pass: a) making a first cut through the first, second and third layers; b) making a second cut through the second and third layers, the second cut being adjacent to the first cut; c) making a third cut through the third layer the third cut being adjacent to the second cut and on the opposite side of the second cut to the first cut; d) using a first ink jet print head to deposit a non-conducting material into the first cut; and e) using a second ink jet print head to apply conducting material to bridge the non-conducting material in the first cut and either fully or partially fill the second cut such to form an electrical connection between the first layer and the third layer, wherein step (a) precedes step (d), step (d) precedes step (e) and step (b) precedes step (e), (otherwise the steps may be carried out in any order in the single pass of the process head across the device). The thin film device may be a solar panel, a lighting panel or a battery.

    • A method for exposing the surface of a drum to patterned illumination from a pulsed laser source at a suitable energy density in order to cause ablation of the surface to form a dense, regular array of 3-D microstructures, comprising the steps of: locating a mask containing a line of different features on a fixed pitch relative to a target area; projecting a uniform line shaped laser beam through the mask in order to project an image made up of a multiplicity of the features on the mask onto the target area; de- magnifying the image carried by the beam between the mask and the target area; locating the surface of the drum for ablation in the target area; rotating the drum continuously so the surface moves in a first direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the drum and also simultaneously moving the projected beam with respect to the drum in a second direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the drum; tilting the projected array of microstructures to correspond to the helical path followed by the laser beam on the drum surface; and controlling the firing of the pulsed laser in relation to the exact angular position of the drum in the target area. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also described.
