    • Techniques for supporting data transmission based on a low-complexity transmission scheme are described. In one design, a first user equipment (UE) generates a first transmission for a single subcarrier assigned to the first UE. The first UE sends the first transmission on the single subcarrier concurrently with a SC-FDMA transmission sent on multiple subcarriers by a second UE. In one design, the first UE generates a continuous sinusoidal signal at a frequency corresponding to the single subcarrier. The first UE modulates the continuous sinusoidal signal with data symbols and reference symbols. In one design, the first transmission includes a cyclic prefix followed by a useful portion in each symbol period and has phase discontinuity at symbol boundary. A base station processes a received signal to recover the first transmission sent by the first UE and the SC-FDMA transmission sent by the second UE.

    • A drinking fluid dispenser (24) includes a bottle (4) disposed on a dispenser base (20) . Mounted inside the bottle (4) is a valve (10) proximally connected to a float (12) by an actuating arm (14) . The valve (10) is positioned above the fluid (52) inside the bottle (4) and is connected to a continuous-flow fluid source. During normal operation, the float (12) which buoyantly floats on fluid (52),closes and opens the valve, respectively, when the surface level (50) of the fluid (52) rises and falls inside the bottle (4). There is also a pressure vent (18) with an orifice disposed through the bottle (4) and above the bottle fluid (52 to maintain atmospheric pressure inside the bottle (4).

    • Methods and apparatuses are provided that facilitate balancing cross-domain paging with registrations performed by a device moving between multiple networks. A device communicating in idle-mode with one or more base stations can obtain one or more parameters regarding a base station using a radio access technology (RAT) to control whether the device performs registration on a network of a different RAT. Thus, the device moving from an area of coverage from one base station of the RAT to a different area that includes coverage from another base station of the different RAT (or vice versa ) can determine whether and/or when to perform a registration on the network of the different RAT for receiving paging signals related to the different RAT based at least in part on the one or more parameters.
