摘要： The invention relates to a projection device for projecting an image, comprising an illumination means (1) having an entrance (13) for entering light from a light source, a polarization-selective mirror (3) for transmitting a first polarization component (42) of the light to a display panel (4) and reflecting a second component (43) back to the illumination means (1), and a display panel (4) for selecting colour components of the first polarization component for projection at a projection means (7). The display panel comprises a dichroic filter means (5) for filtering colour components of the first polarization component (42) and a controllable reflective means (6) for changing the state of polarization of the filtered colour components depending on a control signal and for reflecting the filtered colour components back to the polarization-selective mirror (3). All light that is reflected from the dichroic filter means (5) and the controllable reflective means (6) back to the polarization-selective mirror (3), having an unchanged state of polarization, is transmitted back to the illumination means (1). The reflected light having a changed state of polarization is reflected to the projection means (7) for projection.

摘要： Method and apparatus of coupling light into a light guide using error detecting and correcting systems. A rectangular light guide (110) is mated with an X-axis optical fiber (104) and with a Y-axis optical fiber (102). An X-axis photodetector (152) senses light that couples from the light guide into the X-axis optical fiber, while a Y-axis photodetector (150) senses light that couples from the light guide into the Y-axis optical fiber. An error detector (154) compares the outputs of the X-axis and the Y-axis photodetectors to produces error signals that depend on the X-axis, the Y-axis, and the Z-axis positional errors. The errors signals are applied to an error correcting system that adjusts the relative position of the light guide and the light directed onto the light guide.

摘要： A method for the manufacture of displays, in particular flexible displays, is disclosed. A substrate (1) provided with small openings (2), rendering the substrate porous and forming trenches in the substrate (1), is used. A removable layer (3) is attached to the substrate (1). An etch and temperature resistent layer (4) is deposited onto the removable layer (3), and a display is processed on said etch and temperature resistent layer (4). The removable layer (3) is removed by etching through the openings (2) in the substrate (1) and the substrate may be re-used.

摘要： A gray level compensation mechanism is proposed for flexible displays. Flexible displays exhibit cell gap variations upon bending. The cell gap is measured during operation of the display (capacitive, poezoelectric). The pixel voltage is adjusted according to the measured cell gap. This results in a gray level that is independent of the local bending radius.

摘要： An object of the invention is to provide a surface illumination device and a display device using it, which can contribute to improvement of display qualities. A surface illumination device 10 comprising a light guide plate 1 for propagating incident light inside itself and reflecting the light at the reflecting prism face 1S to output the light from the light exit face.
