    • Method for crimping, in a controlled way, the front portion of a shoe upper by means of a crimping machine of the type comprising two supporting plate-shaped jaws to support the upper, a shaping knife translatable, in a controlled way, with reciprocating motion between an engaged position within a passage slot between the two jaws and a position substantially disengaged from said slot, and wherein these two jaws are movable along an approach direction that is substantially orthogonal to the passage slot, between a close position and a position of mutual removal, and an activating and retaining device to activate and retain at least one of the two jaws in a predefined position, and wherein such an activating and retaining device comprises means to vary instant-by-instant, in a controlled way, the position of at least part of one of the two jaws and/or the retaining force acting on it.
