摘要： An interlock mechanism for a food product slicer (10) that prevents the carriage support (52) of a reciprocating carriage (50) from removal from the slicer housing (20) unless the gauge plate (40) of the slicer is closed and the carriage is positioned along a predetermined portion of the reciprocating path of the carriage. The interlock mechanism includes a pivoting interlock plate (200) and a stationary bar (150) covering the rest of the reciprocating path and blocking pivoting or removal of the support when in the covered path. The interlock plate extends along the predetermined portioned path and cooperates with a gauge plate adjustment control mechanism such that when the gauge plate is adjusted to an open position, the interlock plate pivots to a blocking position with blocks pivoting and removal of the support, and when the gauge plate is in a closed position, the interlock plate pivots to a free position which permits such pivoting and removal.

摘要： A thermoelectric module (45) contains thermoelectric elements installed in a gapless eggcrate. An eggcrate having walls without gaps is formed using a technique such as injection molding. This gapless eggcrate provides insulated spaces for a large number of p-type and n-type thermoelectric elements. The absence of gaps in the walls of the spaces virtually eliminates the possibility of interwall shorts between the elements even when electrical connections are made by metal spray techniques. Fabrication of the gapless eggcrate can be automated using several available techniques such as molding and casting to greatly reduce the labor cost of fabricating thermoelectric eggcrates as compared to prior art techniques of fabricating eggcrates. Thermoelectric elements (45), both p-type and n-type, are fabricated and are inserted into the insulated spaces in the gapless eggcrate in a predetermined manner to provide the desired thermoelectric effects for a predetermined type of application. Electrical connections are established on both the hot and cold sides of the module to connect the thermoelectric elements in series or parallel as desired.

摘要： A method of operation of an ion trap mass spectrometer which isolates a first group of ions having a mass-to-charge ratio range is disclosed. The method includes producing ions from a plurality of atoms or molecules; trapping the ions in the ion trap by applying a trapping voltage to a ring electrode; applying an excitation voltage to a pair of end-cap electrodes; employing as the excitation voltage a broadband excitation waveform having first, second, and third excitation portions, with the first and third excitation portions exciting the ions excluding substantially all of the first group of ions and also excluding substantially all of a second group of ions having a range of mass-to-charge ratios about the at least one mass-to-charge ratio of the first group of ions, and the second excitation portion exciting the second group of ions; applying the first and third excitation portions in order to eject the ions excluding substantially all of the first and second groups of ions; and applying the second excitation portion in order to sequentially eject the ions excluding substantially all of the first group of ions, thereby isolating the first group of ions in the ion trap. 摘要： A composite laminated, non distortable needlework fabric material comprised of a primary layer of non-elastic, open-mesh woven needlework fabric material having a uniform gridwork pattern with mesh apertures defined by wrap and weft threads and a relatively thin secondary mesh-stabilizing layer of sheer non-elastic, random-spun synthetic fiber sheet material coextensively inferfaced with the primary layer and permanently bonded at its interfaced surface to the adhesive coated and impregnated crest portions of the wrap and weft threads of the woven needlework material. The moving web of the primary layer of woven needlework fabric with reactivated adhesive is united at its upper surface, under pressure and cooling, with a moving web of the sheer random-spun synthetic fiber sheet material to form the composite laminated needlework fabric material.

摘要： A thermometer that rapidly predicts body temperature based on the temperature signals received from a temperature sensing probe when it comes into contact with the body. The logarithms of the differences between the temperature signals in a selected time frame are determined. A line is fit through the logarithms and the slope of the line is used as a system time constant in predicting the final temperature of the body. The time constant in conjunction with predetermined additional constants are used to compute the predicted temperature. Data quality in the time frame is monitored and if unacceptable, a different time frame of temperature signals is selected for use in prediction. The processor switches to a monitor mode if data quality over a limited number of time frames is unacceptable. Determining the start time on which the measurement time frame for prediction is based is performed by summing the second derivatives of temperature signals over time frames. When the sum of second derivatives in a particular time frame exceeds a threshold, the start time is established.

摘要： A food mixer is disclosed in which a variable speed facility is provided by a variable transmission ratio belt drive incorporated in the drive train between an electric motor and a whipping or mixing tool. The belt drive comprises a V-belt extending around first and second pulleys each comprising two discs one of which is movable towards and away from the other. In the first pulley, the upper disc can be forced towards the lower disc by downward pivoting of a lever operated by an actuator, whilst in the second pulley, the lower disc is urged by a spring upwardly towards the upper disc. The effective transmission ratio is sensed by a position sensor acting on the lever and which provides a corresponding signal to controller circuitry which compares the sensed ratio with a pre-set ratio and operates the actuator to bring the sensed ratio and pre-set ratio into correspondence.
