    • An air seed meter for an agricultural planter includes a vacuum cover which has a central opening which exposes the central portion of the seed disc to the exterior. The central opening of the vacuum cover is centered on a location offset from the axis of rotation of the seed disc. This reduces disc wear at the disc-vacuum cover interface, and renders the disc more accessible for self-cleaning, visual inspection and verification of the proper disc. Openings in the central, open portion of the disc, the back wall of the seed housing and the side wall of the seed housing cooperate to equalize the air pressure in the seed reservoir to atmospheric pressure and reduce or eliminate reverse air currents in the discharge chute. An adjustable brush with three separate stations cooperates with an edge-release, beveled disc to apply a progressively more forceful singulation force to eliminate duplicate seeds.

    • A layered article of manufacture and a method of manufacturing same is disclosed. A substrate has a biaxially textured MgO crystalline layer having the c-axes thereof inclined with respect to the plane of the substrate deposited thereon. A layer of one or more of YSZ or Y2O3 and then a layer of CeO2 is deposited on the MgO. A crystalline superconductor layer with the c-axes thereof normal to the plane of the substrate is deposited on the CeO2 layer. Deposition of the MgO layer on the substrate is by the inclined substrate deposition method developed at Argonne National Laboratory. Preferably, the MgO has the c-axes thereof inclined with respect to the normal to the substrate in the range of from about 10° to about 40° and YBCO superconductors are used.

    • A pump of the rotor/stator type for wet cementitious material includes a suction housing for receiving and directing the material into a rotor/stator combination for delivery to the location of use. The suction housing is in the form of a rectangular closed structure having a material receiving flange and enclosing coupling between a drive shaft and an end of a rotor. The housing includes top, bottom and side panels, one of which includes the aforementioned material receiving flange. Each of the panels is easily removed from the suction housing to facilitate cleaning and removal of material residue after use, as well as maintenance and repair of the pump. Cementitious material may be introduced through either the top, bottom or either of the side panels by appropriate positioning of the material receiving flange. The pump further includes a lubricant reservoir for lubricating the drive shaft to extend pump operating lifetime.
