    • This invention relates to mattresses such as a pressure relieving mattress and in particular ones for profiling beds. The mattress comprises a base portion (11) , a carriage portion (12), an upper portion (13) and an inflatable pressure relieving underlay (14) disposed between the carriage (12) and the upper portion (13). The facing surfaces (15) and (16) of the base portion (11) and the carriage portion (12), respectively, are coated with a low friction material so that the two slide easily relative to one another. This sliding movement is restricted to longitudinal relative movement by the engagement of co-operating formations (17, 18). The combination provides particularly flexible mattress arrangement which also avoids the problem of the leg section of the mattress kicking upwardly when a profiling bed is articulated.

    • This invention relates to venous return vascular exercise apparatus. Such apparatus, generally indicated at (10) comprises a pair of base sections (11, 12), which are linked by side bars (13) and each have a location (14) for the ball of a users foot and a pivotable rear footplate (15) for receiving the major portion of the users foot. Means are provided for urging the footplates (15) towards an elevated position so that the user places their respective balls of their feet on the right and left locations (14) and then allows the urging means to lift first one footplate (15) and then the other. As the other footplate lifts, the user is intended to depress the first footplate. A foldable version of the exerciser is described.

    • The invention relates to apparatus and methods for forming a terminal on a battery. Terminal forming apparatus (11) has a mould (12) with a cavity (26) which is intended to encircle the post and bush assembly (22, 25) of a battery box (10). The mould cavity (26) is formed with an open upper mouth (27) and a lateral inlet/outlet (28) which connects with the feed channel (13). Inlet (28) is defined by a weir (29) which acts as a constant height device to define the final filling height of the mould cavity (26). This arrangement allows over filling of the mould above the height of the weir (29) and subsequent dropping of that level to the height of the weir (29). This enables the terminal to be formed at precisely the correct height without the need for any metering of the lead.
