    • A controller is a feedback-based energy estimator for controlling initial and refined estimates of energy usage of one/several buildings controlled thereby. An initial estimate of a building's energy needs for a specified future time ( e.g. , a month or a week ahead) are calculated, and over time, in conjunction with an energy company, the initial (and subsequent) estimate(s) are revised based on the costs of energy forecasted by the energy company. The controller may examine tasks to perform along with predictive information that may affect the building's energy needs ( e.g. , predicted temperature for the time of predicted energy needs). As expectations (or factors such as temperature) change, the energy company may be informed of additional energy that will be needed ( e.g. , if predicted temperature is increasing and cooling will be needed) or amount of excess energy expected ( e.g. , if predicted temperature is decreasing, requiring less cooling).

    • A method and system to detect a correlation of movements of an input device, sent from a first location, with at least one configurable movement parameter set on a remote computer at a second location remote from the first location, wherein the method includes: (a) sending first movement information from the first location to the remote computer at the second location, the first movement information corresponding to a first movement of the input device; (b) tracking a resulting movement of a cursor of the remote computer at the second location in response to the remote computer having received the first movement information and utilized the at least one configurable movement parameter; (c) calculating predicted movements utilizing at least two possible values for the at least one configurable movement parameter; and (d) determining which of the at least two possible values provides the predicted movement most closely matching the resulting movement of the cursor.

    • A federation of multinational PSTN, IP and cellular service providers coordinate their accounting by: populating a subscriber database of subscribers to one number services, a service providers database and a payments clearing database having amounts owed across the service providers based on the individual service provider's portion of pre-agreed payments for services; collecting accounting data from the service providers; updating the relevant databases with the data collected; and providing accounting data to the service providers and subscribers. Voice over IP service is applied to a cellular phone by selecting a compatible codec at peripheral gateways of IP network paths, thereby avoiding transcoding by a connecting multimedia terminal adapter. A portable module, multimedia terminal adapter cellular internet protocol gateway for media communications over an IP network (MTAC IPG) bridges a cellular network, an IP network and a PSTN so that a user may locally dial a cellular phone that is then used to enter the IP network and dial the called party. The MTAC IPG provides gateway functionality and packetizing.

    • A portable, personal, multimedia terminal adapter cellular internet protocol gateway (MTAC IPG) bridges between a cellular phone of a cellular network and an IP network to: select SIM card programming of the cellular phone based upon geographic location of the MTAC IPG, with reference to database information of geographic location dependent service availability and user preferences; provide SIM card programming signaling to a SIM card residing in the cellular phone, particularly by signaling exchange of complementary fractions of encryption and decryption keys over two separate communication channels, thereby improving security of information and probability that the SIM card will be programmed in the appropriate authenticated cellular phone; select a service provider based upon call session specific pricing dependent upon geographic location of the MTAC; direct a traveling subscriber to the nearest source of compatible SIM cards when the cellular phone connected to the MTAC IPG is determined to employ an incompatible SIM card that is incompatible to the available services; select and identify to the user a compatible cellular phone based upon geographic location of the MTAC IPG, with reference to database information of geographic location dependent service availability and user preferences and direct a traveling subscriber to the nearest cellular phone rental/purchase location; and authenticate a user as an authorized user based upon cellular phone presence and user access conditions.
