摘要： Polyolefins incorporating hindered phenol groups covalently bound thereto are disclosed. The hindered phenols are covalently bound to the polyolefin through a residue of an alkenyl compound having a carboxylic acid and/or anhydride on the polyolefin. Such polyolefins can be prepared by reacting the following components together under heat: (a) a polyolefin; (b) an alkenyl compound having a carboxylic acid and/or anhydride; and (c) a hindered phenol reagent that can react with the carboxylic acid and/or anhydride of the alkenyl compound; to produce a polyolefin having hindered phenol groups covalently bound thereto. Reactive compounding of such components allows preparation of such polyolefins in a continuous process and in a single reaction step.

摘要： Rechargeable batteries are disclosed having a protective membrane layer on surfaces of an electrode such as cathode active material. Such membranes include anionically charged groups and include an anionic membrane or a zwitterionic membrane. Such membranes can minimize contact of electrolyte to the surfaces of the active materials of the cathode where oxidation of electrolyte typically occurs thus promoting thermal stability of the electrolyte especially for high voltage batteries.

摘要： Rechargeable batteries, charging methods and systems for fast charging of the battery under all environmental temperatures and without causing battery degradation are disclosed. A system includes a temperature sensor configured to monitor a temperature of a battery, a switch that can electrically engage the battery to a source of electrical current through either a low-resistance terminal or a high-resistance terminal of the battery, and a controller electrically connected to the temperature sensor and the switch. The controller can receive input from the temperature sensor and is programmed to determine whether to electrically engage the battery to the source of electrical current through either the low-resistance terminal or the high-resistance terminal through the switch based on input from the temperature sensor.
