    • 1497953 Solar still YAO CHEN TSAI 16 Feb 1976 05998/76 Heading BIB A solar still has a plurality of convex lenses 314 that concentrate sunlight to heat water contained in a vaporization chamber 10, the resulting water vapour rising through holes or slits 143 in a transparent portion 14 and into a condensation chamber 20 where it is cooled and condensed by virtue of cooling air passing through a cooling air chamber 30 (e.g. through slits 312) provided directly above the said condensation chamber, the resultant condensate being collected in grooves provided on said partition 14 and leaving the still by means of a trough 144 and a suitable outlet 146 (Fig. 1 not shown). The base of chamber 10 may comprise a metallic plate 11 topped by an insulating plate 12 and a heat absorption plate 13. The spaces between lenses 314 may be filled with annular ring patterns. The base of chamber 10 may contain a central trough, and a valve (to allow water and salt crystal removal), and wash pipes 51 (Fig. 4 not shown). Reflecting adjustable concave mirrors 80 (Fig. 4 not shown) may additionally be used.

The base of the chamber may comprise a metallic plate 11, an insulating plate 12, and a heat absorption plate 13. The spaces between lenses may be filled with annular ring patterns.
