SOLUTION: Each information element 410 to 413 is shown on one line on a display image 425, and because each length of it is longer than the image 425, the display of each information element is clipped. An element selection symbol 426 selects the information element 410 from among the displayed information elements 410 to 413, the selected information element is visibly shown to a user with the symbol 426 which is arranged after the label of the element, and also, the other information elements can be selected by vertically scrolling. Information in a selected specific information element is horizontally scrolled in a prescribed method. That is, image width each is scrolled, adjusting to a word boundary after a pause period that is sufficient to read displayed text.

The element 402 is information of a long text, etc., and wider than the display screen. The typical LCD display screen of a cellular telephone set is 4 lines tall and 12 characters wide, which means that the element 402 should be displayed partially without hiding other elements. Here, the element 402 is a selectable element so that a 1st part is displayed and the rest is displayed when selected.

摘要： Techniques for controlling the streaming of content through a network are disclosed. The techniques are especially applicable to the streaming of video content to hand- held wireless devices using an HTTP adaptive bit rate streaming protocol. One technique for controlling the streaming of content involves changing the rate at which content chunks are sent from an intermediate network device in order to cause a client to request content chunks that are encoded at a different bit rate. Another technique for controlling the streaming of content involves editing the manifest file that is used to implement an HTTP adaptive bit rate streaming protocol. The techniques are transparent to the client and to the content source and do not require any additional hardware or software to be installed at the content provider or at the client beyond what is already necessary to implement an HTTP adaptive bit rate streaming protocol.

摘要： A structured screen display process presents structured information that includes a plurality of selectable (404, 406, 408, 412, 414) and non-selectable elements (402, 416) on any width screen display so that the user is able to see as many of the elements as possible at once, and is able to see the complete text of any element as needed. The process dynamically adapts the display of structured information to the screen display width of a device. The structured information is presented on a screen display by displaying at least a portion of each element of a plurality of elements on the screen display where at least one of the selectable elements has a width greater than a width of the screen display. The at least one selectable element is scrolled horizontally while continuing to display the other elements of the plurality of elements.
